Liyrex is an Ultimate Roy player, originally from New York's Capital Region, and currently residing in Rochester, NY. He is known as among the top ten Roy players in the United States, and is credited with popularizing the use of Roy's jab vortex alongside Mugen. Additionally when he moved to North Country New York for college in 2016, he created the Smash scene there alongside Zaphros, and was the head TO for North Country from January 2017 to January 2019 and again from May 2020 to November 2020. He was also active in Smash 4, where he played Roy alongside a Corrin secondary, and while a weaker player in that game, he was still known as a strong regional-level threat.
Liyrex in Ultimate was formerly ranked 6th on the Nebraska Spring/Summer 2019 PR, and 1st on the 2020 North Country NY Winter 2020 PR, while for Smash 4 he was ranked 3rd on the North Country NY Spring 2018 PR, and 5th on the NY CR Summer 2018 PR. Additionally in Ultimate he has wins on players such as Puppeh, Light, SKITTLES!!, PkChris, Skilly, PowPow, ToffeeCG, and WelfarePickles, while in Smash 4 he obtained wins against Suarez, Omega Tyrant, Grunk, Noe3, and Zaphros.
Play style
Liyrex is known as a very aggressive and technical player, who rushes down opponents as he tries to coerce mistakes from them, while capitalizing on calling out their escape options, especially through abuse of the aforementioned jab vortex. His punish game is potent, where upon getting a single opening, Liyrex will frequently capitalize with a long and highly damaging combo, or by landing one of Roy's potent kill confirms, particularly with "jair" (Roy's jab to back aerial combo) or jab into Double-Edge Dance. He is additionally an emotional streaky player, where he thrives on momentum and can turn any inch he gets into a mile, but is heavily prone to tilting and underperforming as a result. In Smash 4 he was also infamous for frequently throwing out hail mary forward smashes and overextending during edgeguards that would lead to frequent self-destructs, though he would calm down on both these habits as he grew as a player, with them no longer being defining traits of him in Ultimate.
Liyrex is a fan of Squad Strike and prefers it over doubles, but will still compete in doubles, with Zaphros being his preferred partner in Smash 4 and WhiteFang being his preferred partner in Ultimate when he was residing in Nebraska.

Trivia
- The tag "Liyrex" is the "Nobody version" of his real name, Riley. Liyrex chose this tag because when he plays, he tries to let go of who he is and become a different person; one without fear or emotion getting in the way of things.
- However the tag is frequently misheard or mispronounced as "Lyrics", much to Liyrex's chagrin.
- Liyrex used to play Slap City competitively, where he was a top Jenny Fox player during versions 0.6.0 to 0.7.0, and unlike his playstyle in Smash, he was a very defensive player that would often time out opponents.
- Liyrex came the closest of any NY CR player to taking a set off Dark Wizzy in Smash 4, who remained undefeated against NY CR players throughout the entirety of Smash 4. This occurred at an Immortal Fight Night, where after Liyrex took game 1 in a Bo3 set and took Wizzy to his last stock in game 2, he landed a forward smash that produced the red lightning effect and sent Wizzy deep offscreen, but Wizzy would barely survive and come back to take the game, then win game 3 to take the set.
- Liyrex is the current reigning Olympic Ultimate champ for New York state.
