The Walt Disney Company, or just Disney, is an American multinational entertainment and media conglomerate headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios complex in Burbank, California. Mickey Mouse, created in 1928, is Disney's official mascot.

Disney was originally founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt and Roy O. Disney as the "Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio"; it also operated under the names "The Walt Disney Studio" and "Walt Disney Productions" before officially changing its name to The Walt Disney Company in 1986. The company established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, theme parks, consumer products, and many other ventures as well as buying as many companies in a attempt to take over the world. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Mickey Mouse and Mickey & Donald, both Game & Watch games published by Disney, are listed in the Chronicle in all regions. Three additional games are also included exclusively in the Japanese version, those being the Nintendo 64 version of Mickey's Speedway USA, Disney's Magical Quest Starring Mickey and Minnie, and Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Sora, the protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, developed by Square Enix as a joint collaboration between them and Disney, was confirmed on October 5, 2021 to be the sixth and final fighter in the Fighter's Pass, Volume 2, and the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter in general. Despite Disney not developing or publishing the Kingdom Hearts games, they are the sole owner of the brand and all original assets and the company credited with Sora's inclusion.

The silhouette of Mickey Mouse's head can also be seen as a keychain on Sora's keyblade.

Trivia

• Disney is the second oldest company represented in Smash, with only Nintendo debuting first by 34 years.
  • Disney had previously collaborated with Nintendo on multiple occasions, with their earliest being in the 1950s to create hanafuda cards based around their characters.
• Disney is the second major Western third-party company to be introduced to the Super Smash Bros. series, after Microsoft.
  • They are also the only companies who primarily specialize in other Industries.
• Bowser, Pac-Man, Ryu, Ken, Sonic, and Sora all appeared in the 2012 movie Wreck-It Ralph, which was produced by Disney.
  • Mario was also mentioned by name. Both Mario and Luigi were intended to appear proper in the film, but both were cut during development. The Super Mushroom, however, makes a cameo alongside Metal Gear's famous exclamation point.
  • With the exception of Bowser and Mario, they all reappear in the 2018 sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet.
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed also has Sonic and several other Sonic and Sega characters appearing alongside Wreck-It Ralph.
