Kazuya Mishima is a major character from the Tekken series of fighting games.

Origin

Born from the union between Kazumi Mishima and Heihachi Mishima, Kazuya is greeted with happiness. His father, Heihachi, would later say that they were "overjoyed" and that Kazumi took care of them with the utmost care. Very young, Kazuya began martial arts training with his father Heihachi but also with his grandfather Jinpachi Mishima who loves him very much.

Heihachi, when he was 31, gets rid of Jinpachi and takes over the family business and renames it to Mishima Zaibatsu. Under his control, it specializes in everything related to war. Because, he intended to conquer the world. This alerts his wife, Kazumi, who seeing that he becomes a threat, decides to stop him. In the meantime, Heihachi then manages to stop his father's coup attempt by capturing and locking him up in a prison built on the Mishima estate called Hon-Maru.

Kazumi had discovered that Kazuya, 5 years old, possessed, like her, the demonic power offering him the possibility of transforming into a demon. Knowing that her husband can discover the truth at any moment and still seeing him as a threat to humanity, she makes a pact with Akuma. Having saved his life in the past, the fighter is indebted to him. She also asks Akuma to suppress Kazuya despite her love for him, realizing the dangers of the demonic gene. Heihachi ends up knowing the truth about his wife. It is during a terrible confrontation, that Kazumi is killed by Heihachi, leaving him alone with Kazuya.

Still 5 years old, Kazuya, aware that Heihachi was responsible for his mother's death, accuses him directly and decides to confront him. He is of course too weak and is defeated. Heihachi then decides to throw him off the top of a cliff, deeming him too weak. Heihachi just wanted to test him if he was worthy to succeed him and, also if Kazuya really possessed the demonic power that he inherited from his mother. Kazuya barely survives the fall, but is able to climb back up the cliff due to his Devil Gene activating and causing his devil powers to awaken.

Following this incident, Kazuya continued to train to prepare his revenge against his father. During these trips, he faced Paul Phoenix and the fight ended in a draw. Since then, Paul sees Kazuya as his rival and wishes to face him again without ever succeeding.

In Tekken, At the age of 26, Kazuya participates in the Premier King of Iron Fist Tournament that Heihachi organizes. The winner of this tournament will be rewarded with a colossal amount of money. Kazuya participates in the hope of revenge and taking the family business.

He sets out to defeat his adopted brother: Lee Chaolan, an orphan Chinese, that Heihachi adopted in order to make Kazuya jealous. He manages to pull himself up to the final fight between him and his father. He defeats him with his "Demon Kazuya" form and takes Heihachi's body to throw him off a cliff at the ending.

Kazuya is part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 as Challenger Pack 10. He was revealed on June 15, 2021, during E3 2021. His design is based on his appearance in Tekken 5 and Tekken 6, with an alternate costume based on his appearance in Tekken 7. Kazuya will appear as a playable character.
