The following is a list of all on-screen appearances in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Pichu and Young Link received new on-screen appearances due to their absences in Brawl and SSB4, since this feature was absent in Melee.

Banjo & Kazooie

  • Hops out of a Jiggy silhouette, then takes a bow. A descending sound is heard as they hop out, referencing the screen transitions from the Banjo-Kazooie games.

Bayonetta

  • Emerges from her Bat Within form and produces a purple symbol that represents Umbra Witch magic.

Bowser

  • Emerges from a wall of flames hunched over, before standing up right.

Bowser Jr.

Byleth

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic and poses with a pointer in hand, before putting the pointer away and pulling out the Sword of the Creator.

Captain Falcon

  • The Blue Falcon spins to a stop, Captain Falcon jumps out, and then the Blue Falcon speeds off. The animation differs depending on which direction he is facing; when facing right, he simply climbs out, while when facing left, he somersaults while doing so.

Chrom

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic, and pulls his sword out of the ground.

Cloud

Corrin

  • Falls onto the stage in dragon form, then transforms into human form.

Daisy

  • Appears spinning out of a shower of flower petals and enthusiastically waves to the camera, yelling "Yo-ooo!" (her quote when overtaking a player in Mario Kart 8).

Dark Pit

  • Appears onstage from a beam of darkness from the sky.

Dark Samus

  • Warps onto the stage from a dark portal.

Diddy Kong

Donkey Kong

  • Breaks out of a DK Barrel, making a pose.

Dr. Mario

  • Megavitamins build up on the ground in the shape of the bottom of the bottles from the Dr. Mario games, and Dr. Mario appears when they recede.

Duck Hunt

  • The dog jumps onto the stage from the foreground into some 8-bit grass, then does his infamous laugh.

Falco

  • Ejects from an upside-down Arwing.

Fox

Ganondorf

  • Emerges from a liquid-like vortex of darkness.

Greninja

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball and does a ninja pose.

Hero

  • Flies onto the stage using Zoom.

Ice Climbers

  • The condor flies in with them hanging from his feet, then they jump off, and give each other a high-five.

Ike

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic, then slashes his sword.

Incineroar

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball and makes a wrestling pose.

Inkling

  • Lands with a splash of ink in squid form before transforming back, then flaps both arms excitedly before drawing the Splattershot. This is directly based on the Inklings' entrance animation from Octo Valley in Splatoon.

Isabelle

  • Exits out of the Town Hall and cheers to the camera.

Jigglypuff

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball, then does a short, bouncy dance.

Joker

  • Drops from the top of the screen, similar to how most battle encounters begin in Persona 5, then tightens a glove like in his up taunt.

Ken

  • Walks onto the stage from some mist in the background, then gets into a fighting stance saying "I'm ready for ya! Bring it on!" (his intro quote from Street Fighter IV).

King Dedede

  • Is carried in on a palanquin by four Waddle Dees, then jumps off, scattering them.

King K. Rool

  • Drops from the sky with his arms crossed, before making a chuckle similar to (but not identical to) his Final Smash. His pose is based on how he appears in Donkey Konga.

Kirby

Link

Little Mac

  • Jogs onto the stage and throws off his pink training suit (unless the player chose to wear it at the character select screen, in which case Mac simply does the throwing motion without removing the suit).

Lucario

  • Teleports on stage, floats for a second, gathers aura in its hands then lands.

Lucas

Lucina

  • Warps while masked onto the stage using warp magic with a twirl, removes her mask, and unsheathes her sword.

Luigi

  • Jumps out of a Warp Pipe with hands on face uneasily saying, "Let's-a go." It now makes a variation of the Warp Pipe noise from Super Mario Bros. (being previously used for his brother's down taunt in Brawl and Smash 4) in the process, akin to its appearance in Smash 64.

Mario

  • Jumps out of a Warp Pipe punching his right fist in the air while shouting "Let's-a go!". Like Luigi, it now makes a variation of the Warp Pipe noise from Super Mario Bros., akin to its appearance in Smash 64.

Marth

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic with a twirl and unsheathes his sword.

Mega Man

  • Warps into the stage, resembling the way Mega Man warps in when he starts a stage in the Mega Man games.

Meta Knight

  • Teleports in, wrapped in his cape, similar to Dimensional Cape and his up taunt.

Mewtwo

  • Teleports onto the stage using dark energy.

Mii Brawler

  • Lands with an explosion then performs attacks towards the screen.

Mii Gunner

  • Emerges with lighting and sparks flying around, then point their arm cannon towards the screen.

Mii Swordfighter

  • Appears from a whirlwind, then unsheathes their sword.

Min Min

  • Jumps onto the stage while spinning around like a corkscrew, performing a landing pose and then another pose afterwards.

Mr. Game & Watch

  • Moves along a row of faded Game and Watch LCD frames until he reaches the foreground. The color of the frames match the alternate costume.

Ness

  • Arrives having used Teleport, then shakes off the soot he gathered after crashing.

Olimar

Pac-Man

  • Starts out as the classic Pac-Man sprite, makes a slow chomp, and then jumps out of it into his normal form.

Palutena

  • Walks out from a set of golden doors with a heavenly glow surrounding her.

Peach

  • Appears spinning out of a shower of hearts, says "Hi!" to the player and waves at the screen.

Pichu

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball and punches both fists in the air with joy while saying its name before landing (the same voice clip used for its side taunt).

Pikachu

  • Emerges from a Poké Ball and emits sparks from its cheeks.

Piranha Plant

  • Rises straight up out of its pot, making a lower-pitched Warp Pipe noise as it does so.

Pit

  • Appears onstage from a beam of light from the heavens.

Pokémon Trainer

R.O.B.

  • Assembles piece by piece as his parts drop from the sky.

Richter

  • Appears on screen surrounded by light.

Ridley

  • Swoops down at an angle, before landing and letting out a roar.

Robin

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic.

Rosalina & Luma

  • Glides in from some stars and does a twirl.

Roy

  • Warps onto the stage using warp magic, and pulls his sword out of the ground.

Ryu

  • Walks onto the stage from some mist in the background, then gets into a fighting stance.

Samus

  • Arrives from a save point.

Sheik

  • Appears in a whirl of smoke.

Shulk

  • Jumps down with the Monado, then places it on his back after it deactivates.

Simon

  • Appears on screen surrounded by light.

Snake

  • Appears kneeling with lighting and sparks around him. He also appears to be turning visible, saying "Kept you waiting, huh?" Based on the beginning of the Tanker chapter in Metal Gear Solid 2.

Sonic

  • Jumps onto the stage (in ball form) from the foreground and gives a thumbs-up.

Steve

  • Mines stone blocks with a pickaxe, then walks onto the stage. The unmined stone blocks disappear, and a crafting table immediately appears afterwards. The crafting table will spawn in midair, dropping to the ground before "Go!" appears.

Terry

  • Jumps onto the stage from the background and adjusts his hat, similarly to the lane switching mechanic of the Fatal Fury games.

Toon Link

  • Appears in an explosion, then equips his sword and shield.

Villager

  • Exits out of a house and cheers to the camera.

Wario

  • Rides in from the foreground on his bike while laughing, then falls off. The bike then explodes and Wario dusts himself off.

Wii Fit Trainer

  • Steps off of the living Wii Balance Board seen in the Wii Fit series, who then jumps behind the stage waving goodbye and disappears.

Wolf

Yoshi

  • Breaks out of a Yoshi Egg and shakes his rear end. The color of the Yoshi will determine the color of the spots on the egg.

Young Link

  • Descends from a column of light, similar to the end-of-dungeon teleports in Ocarina of Time. Nearly identical to Link's appearance in Smash 64.

Zelda

  • Teleports in with magic in her hands.

Zero Suit Samus

  • Jumps out of her Gunship and lands with her jet boots.
