Hitmonlee (サワムラー, Sawamurā, Sawamular in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

Creature description

Hitmonlee is a decidedly humanlike Pokémon whose head is the upper part of its torso, and its strong, elongatable legs are its defining feature. With its three spiky toes on each foot, Hitmonlee's kicking power is unmatched. It is the kicking equivalent to the punching Pokémon, Hitmonchan, and the spinning Pokémon, Hitmontop, and all three share the same evolutionary predecessor: the young, small Tyrogue.

As a Poké Ball Pokémon

Hitmonlee appears as a Pokémon that comes out of a Pokéball in SSB. Hitmonlee uses Hi Jump Kick as it's attack. Hitmonlee will remain motionless for a full second, then it will extend its leg and jump in the air at a randomly decided opponent target to inflict heavy damage and knockback if it connects. Its attack can't harm the summoner.

Hitmonlee's battle cry when released was the source of much debate, as it did not appear to say its name like other Pokemon. Some claim his cry sounds more like Primeape.

Hitmonlee is considered by many to have been replaced by Scizor in Melee. However, Hitmonle only kicks once, while Scizor strikes multiple times.
