SpongeBob SquarePants is the eponymous sponge from SpongeBob SquarePants

Attributes

  • SpongeBob has a below average initial dash, but above average dash and walk speed.
  • His air speed is average, however his air acceleration is above average, and his fall speed is below average, making him a floaty.
  • He is a lightweight.

Moveset

  Name Damage Description
Neutral attack   1.8% A punch, kick, and karate chop. First two jabs can lock.
1.8%
3.4%
Forward tilt   9% Pokes the opponent with his spatula. Deals mild knockback, able to KO middleweights starting at 130%.
Up tilt   9.5% Karate chops upward. SpongeBob's best tilt when it comes to comboing, allowing him to follow up with a plethora of moves.
Down tilt   7.5% Pokes the opponent with his shoes. It can trip opponents at low percents, however it's high end lag doesn't allow it to combo much at mid-percents.
Dash attack   7% Slides across the floor on his tongue. Deals low knockback overall.
Forward smash   14% (uncharged), 24% (charged) A karate chop using his red foam hand. It can KO middleweights starting at 110%, however its high end lag makes it a risky move.
Up smash   13% (patty, uncharged), 23% (patty, charged), 15% (spatula) Flips a Krabby Patty upwards. Although it cannot kill, it's useful for finishing low-to-mid percent combos. The spatula hit has a flame effect and has set knockback, although it can KO if really close to the ledge.
Down smash   12% (uncharged), 22% (charged) Extends a bubble wand and spins around. The weak hit behind SpongeBob deals less knockback, while the stronger hit in front can KO starting at 100%.
Neutral aerial   9% Inflates himself. SpongeBob's best combo escaper, as it comes out relatively early, as well as a great combo starter, as it has very low ending lag. However, the move is harder to hit at higher percents due to possessing a small windbox.
Forward aerial   8% A karate chop. The downward hit is a spike, while the weak hit is incapable of KOing at realistic percents.
Back aerial   8% A backwards kick. Can KO middleweights at around 140%.
Up aerial   8.5% Blows a bubble upward. The initial frames has a windbox that pushes people away, but its high ending lag doesn't allow it to combo. Great in-air combo finisher, and can KO middleweights at around 130%
Down aerial Spiked Cleats 12% Kicks straight down with spiked cleats. SpongeBob's strongest aerial in both damage and knockback, capable of KOing staring at 80%. As a result, it has the highest lag out of all of his aerials and moves in general.
Grab Jellyfishing Net Throws out a net in front of him, similar to Villager. Has moderate ending lag.
Pummel Jellyfish Sting 1% Allows a jellyfish to zap the opponent. Slow, but deals a good amount of damage.
Forward throw   12% Throws the opponent outward. Spongebob's only KO throw that can KO middleweights starting at 150%.
Back throw   3% (toss), 8% (chop) Tosses the opponent into the air and karate chops them backward. At low percents, it can lead into a back air or dash attack.
Up throw   3% (toss), 7% (spatula) Tosses the opponent upwards and "flips" the opponent with a spatula. It can lead into a series of aerials up to high percent, and can be be used for a 50/50 up air kill.
Down throw   2% (first four stings), 5% (final sting) Releases the jellyfish, which proceeds to sting the opponent repeatedly and launching them afterwards. Spongebob's most damaging throw, and can lead into forward airs up to mid-high percent.

3% A kick in front of him. Similar to his down tilt, it has a chance to trip.

Edge attack (slow)
Edge getups (slow)
  4% Headbutts onto the stage.
Neutral special Food Fight 8% (Krabby Patty), 20% (Pie) Flings a Krabby Patty in an arc. The arc can be angled. If the patty hits the floor, it can cause the opponent to trip, however only one stain can appear on the floor, and throwing another patty will cause the stain to disappear. On rare occasions, SpongeBob would throw a pie instead, which explodes on contact.
Side special Crash! 4% (boat), 12% (crash) SpongeBob produces and drives a boatmobile. If the opponent is on the ground directly in the path of the boat when the boat connects, the boat crashes, dealing massive damage and KOing middleweights starting at 80%. Otherwise, the opponent gets knocked upwards gently.
Up special Bubble Tricks Varies Blows a bubble. Four different bubbles can be produced, each dealing different damage when popped and traveling a different distance. Opponents bounce harmlessly off the bubble, however they can pop it with a strong-enough attack.
Down special Absorption 0.8x Absorbs the attack and launches the opponent away. Although it's not strong enough to KO, it sharply reduces the damage SpongeBob would otherwise have taken, as well as increase the endlag of the move. Repeated use of it will weaken the absorption effect and endlag.
Final Smash Jellyfish Jam 5% (Jellyfish) A swarm of jellyfish appear as "Jellyfish Jam" plays. Touching a jellyfish deals small damage, however as jellyfish are all over the stage, other jellyfish can be hit, resulting in damage being racked up. The sting can also KO middleweights starting at 60%.
