Atlus Co., Ltd. (株式会社アトラス, Atlus Corporation) is a subsidiary of Sega that is best known for developing the Megami Tensei, Persona, Etrian Odyssey, and Trauma Center series.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Joker, the main protagonist of Persona 5, was announced as the first DLC newcomer for Ultimate at The Game Awards 2018. He was later added in, along with Mementos, multiple spirits, and multiple music tracks on April 17th, 2019. Tsubasa Oribe from the Fire Emblem crossover title Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE also appears a Spirit, which can be enhanced into her Carnage form.
Trivia
- Atlus is the second third-party company to be introduced to the Super Smash Bros. series as DLC, the first being Square Enix, and the first to be a subsidiary of another.
- Despite being featured in Smash 4 as a developer of Wonderful 101, PlatinumGames was not formally introduced as a third-party company with playable characters even with the last DLC of Smash 4 with Bayonetta. The reason might be because PlatinumGames isn't owner of the Bayonetta IP, unlike how Atlus was originally an independent company who created, developed and published the Persona series years before being bought by Sega.
