Regarding seniority

Hi, I came across your comment here the other day and wanted to leave you a message about seniority and retaliation in the community, or rather lack thereof. You should not feel in any way that your edits are not as meaningful as a member who's been around a long time, or an admin's, particularly in the mainspace where every editor is encouraged to contribute their thoughts to make the wiki as complete and useful as it can be. It would also be grossly inappropriate for any sort of reprisal to happen for speaking up about a rule violation, so you should have nothing to fear on that front. If you feel the need, you can contact one of the admins to privately talk about an issue you might be having as well. – Emmett 20:13, 22 September 2018 (EDT)

About the Mother 3 clay models

Just warning you that these are all fan-made models, which counts as fan art. As SW:IMG states, fan art is to not be used in mainspace, unless it's meant to demonstrate a point (as with the Gematsu leaks page). This doesn't seem to be the case, meaning that official art should be used instead, those being the characters' sprites. — NokiiSig.png Nokii (T·C·L) 00:47, 29 September 2018 (EDT)

Oof, and I took those from the Earthbound Wiki, assuming they were official. Well, sorry about that. SugarCookie420 (talk) 11:17, 29 September 2018 (EDT)

I thought about poking SugarCookie about this myself, but I also considered the fact that he's doing a HUGE amount of work for something very complicated. I feel that this is one time where trying to do everything in one go is probably not the best thing to do. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 23:35, 10 October 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, I had to do it section by section because it was frustrating doing it using the whole page, since not only do I have to scroll all the way back down after previewing, but it was really hard to find the place I need to update. I do apologize for crowding up space, however. SugarCookie420 (talk) 18:54, 11 October 2018 (EDT)

Midwest Mayhem 12

Midwest Mayhem 12 has a PGR value of 672, which meets the requirement to be B-Tier. Dabuz (1-5) is 224, Lima (11-20) is 96, Marss/SDX (21-30) are 80 each, and tyroy/Ned/Maister (31-50) are 64 each. The Google doc is simply outdated, considering it still lists GTX as a B-Tier despite no longer even qualifying to meet PGR. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 21:56, 4 November 2018 (EST)

I also find the PGR document extremely unreliable (I'm waiting for Andrew to update it right now), however I also have some doubts on Midwest Mayhem 12, judging by how Glitch 5 was not included in the list despite qualifying as a C-Tier with 580 points before the C-Tier cut off, not to mention that I cannot find any information on how the PGR 100 runs. I just assumed that some tournaments are not included for some reason, and it may have applied to Midwest Mayhem 12. SugarCookie420 (talk) 22:09, 4 November 2018 (EST)
Glitch 5 doesn't qualify at all, actually, so there's no mistake there. Its entrant value is 244 (122 entrants x 2) and its PGR value is 176 (96+80).
Lima (11-20) is 96 and WaDi (21-30) is 80, and they were the only ones in attendance.
They only use the higher of the two values, meaning Glitch 5's value is 244 (which is below the 300 point cutoff for a C-Tier). Very confused as to how you could have gotten 580. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 23:50, 4 November 2018 (EST)
Must have been my glitchy calculator ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ SugarCookie420 (talk) 19:16, 5 November 2018 (EST)

Apologies, it was a very long day, and I kinda got too overboard on frustration and forgot about that rule. SugarCookie420 (talk) 14:43, 7 November 2018 (EST)

My bad about the multiple edits. I tried that earlier, and it didn't save anything, so I tried to do in in small bits. I can try again in one edit though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pappy Parappy (talkcontribs) 1:35, November 11, 2018

You once updated the Smasher:Braixen page to correct the grammar from "their" to "he". Braixen is a non-binary individual and does not use he/him or she/her pronouns. Pronouns have been reverted to they/them/their. 67.160.168.68 23:06, 19 November 2018 (EST)

About the victory themes

You seem to be making one consecutive edit for one section at a time. Please do one edit for all the fighters. sans {talkcontributions) 19:43, 7 December 2018 (EST)

I've been notified for something similar previously. The reason I'm doing this is because since this is a lot of work, doing it in one go is extremely messy and, to be honest, probably allowing a lot of room for error if I had just done it one-by-one. SugarCookie420 (talk) 19:45, 7 December 2018 (EST)
For me personally, I'd copy and paste so that I don't have to deal with such repeated edits. You should probably do that as well. Making one edit at the time for one section is even harder work since you're doing a loop of submitting your edits and then pressing the edit button. sans {talkcontributions) 19:49, 7 December 2018 (EST)
I generally find that easier, but oh well. Don't worry, I got the new ones done with, so the sped-up ones should be easy and I'm doing it in one go. SugarCookie420 (talk) 19:50, 7 December 2018 (EST)

Good job

GENESIS 6

Nintendo Versus's tweet had a penguin emoji in it so it was relevant to the paragraph of the penguins becoming a meme. It was a continuation of Nintendo's involvement in it. Did you remove it because you missed seeing it? --Meester Tweester (talk) 01:07, 3 February 2019 (EST)

Probably. You didn't provide an explanation for your change (making me assume you made that edit because it was about Nintendo VS) and the sentence fit in extremely awkwardly with the rest of the paragraph, so I decided to remove it. Also, I believe one example should be enough, with the first tweet being the most obvious, but if you wanted to add the other one, you could always phrase it more like how it was in the paragraph. Question about my current proposal on the general proposals forum

Is there any way to get a consensus on it? I don’t want it to just be forgotten. I’m talking about the one where we should place major alternate costumes in a tab in the infobox instead of the gallery. Lou Cena (talk) 13:51, 9 February 2019 (EST)

From what I have read, everyone is somewhat agreeing with your proposal, it's just how we should implement it - whether it's like the FE Wiki or your proposal. You can always try doing the former, and I don't think anyone would be against it. SugarCookie 420 14:00, 9 February 2019 (EST)
Thanks for telling me. I’m not a very experienced wiki editor, so I’m not really sure how to split them up into tabs without breaking he entire page, but thanks for telling me. Lou Cena (talk) 15:29, 9 February 2019 (EST)
No problem, to be honest I'm not the best either, I learned a lot of wiki editing through experimentation and analyzing the code, so you could do that too. SugarCookie 420 15:32, 9 February 2019 (EST)

Your movesets page

Quick thing: you probably shouldn't use the moveset table template, as that creates redlinks that the wiki is going to flag. Instead, I'm going to recommend that you use one that doesn't have as much redlinks. I could even implement it in there for you to save you time, if you wanted. Aidan, the Lovely Rurouni 00:08, 17 February 2019 (EST)

Funny enough, I actually tried using your method, however I'm not that great at reading what you made, so I stuck to a moveset table. If you can explain how it works, then I'll gladly take it. SugarCookie 420 09:00, 17 February 2019 (EST)
Essentially, what I did was I made a wikitable that looked enough like it to look legitimate, and slightly edited it so that it was general links instead of creating links to all these attacks for characters that don't exist. It's a fairly simple process, but, again, I'd be glad to save you time and do it myself if you want. Aidan, the Lovely Rurouni 15:15, 17 February 2019 (EST)
I'll take a look at it again. I don't want my work to interfere with your work. SugarCookie 420 15:17, 17 February 2019 (EST)

TuxKick

Can you remove my Smash wiki page? It keeps being vandalized and I just don’t want to deal with this anymore. I’m not a relevant player anyways. Thanks. TuxKick (talk) 15:39, 18 February 2019 (EST)

Removal of wiki pages can only be done by administrators. You can tag any page for deletion yourself by placing the appropriate template at the top of the page. If you don't think you are relevant enough to deserve a page, you may tag the page for notability-based deletion instead. NokiiSig.png Nokii — 16:17, 18 February 2019 (EST)
If it's just vandalism, then we can have an administrator protect the page. SugarCookie 420 17:13, 18 February 2019 (EST)

Hey, do you think you could help me with something? I'm trying to upload this picture but it won't let me even though it's in the proper PNG format, and it just keeps saying "Files of the MIME type "text/html" are not allowed to be uploaded." Little Warrior Was Here. (talk) 15:26, 8 March 2019 (EST)
Have you tried uploading a similar picture? I'm sorry I don't really know much about this issue and I'm away this weekend. I believe you should try clearing your cache, but if it keeps happening you should ask an active admin. SugarCookie 420 15:52, 8 March 2019 (EST)

Quickly looming this up, and my guess is that the file isn't supported on here. The MIME type defines what a file is based off the nature and format, so the format may not be supported on here. You should definitely ask an admin if this keeps happening. SugarCookie 420 15:56, 8 March 2019 (EST)

Applying for adminship

Have you ever thought about it? You’re clearly one of the most hardworking editors here, and many of the tournament pages would be empty without you. This states that I could nominate another user for nomination, and with multiple users (including a beurecrat and one of Smashwiki’s first users) noting you as one of the best editors around here, I feel like you probably deserve adminship. Lou Cena (talk) 01:33, 7 March 2019 (EST)

I have had some thoughts about it, but I'm honestly still less experienced than a lot of users on here. Also, I feel like adminship may just place more unwanted stress for me (and I'm a really stressful person because of school lol) so I don't think it'll help my well-being for now. I may try out in a year or so. Nevertheless, I honestly would have never thought I had admin qualities and I thank you for the nomination. SugarCookie 420 08:40, 7 March 2019 (EST)
Going to real quickly correct the misconception that I am one of SmashWiki's first users, I'm not even close. I joined here in 2015, the wiki has been going since 2010, 2007 if you count the wikia and swf days. Serpent SKSig.png King 17:12, 8 March 2019 (EST)

Removing talk page messages

Just as a quick FYI, with the exception of spam, talk page posts shouldn't be removed, even if they are from sockpuppets, as it's important to archive these things. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 10:02, April 4, 2019 (EDT)

I mean, can't MM's posts be considered spam at this point? Plus we have like 1000 archives of his sockpuppets. Anyways, yeah I know about removing talk page posts, and that's why I was kinda hesitant doing it before. SugarCookie 420 10:16, April 4, 2019 (EDT)
Well spam typically refers to unwanted promotion/advertisements or malicious links. Alex the Jigglypuff trainer 12:40, April 4, 2019 (EDT)

Status value

We have new info, so logically that would produce more traffic, meaning you would raise the value. Also, your edit is violation of SW:1RV, since you undid my undo. Awesomelink234, the Super Cool Sonic Fan Leave a message if needed 21:32, April 16, 2019 (EDT)

More traffic means that the WikiStatusValue goes down, not up. Currently's the value is positive, and so moving it up means that we have less traffic, while during Ultimate's release, it was negative, so the value should be going down. In this case, however, the value goes up. SugarCookie 420 21:34, April 16, 2019 (EDT)
Also, I am completely aware that my edit violates only revert once, which is why I said that I wasn't trying to edit war. That's probably not how it works though so... SugarCookie 420 21:37, April 16, 2019 (EDT)
Also also, I was wrong. SugarCookie 420 21:52, April 16, 2019 (EDT)

How come you don’t think your draft isn’t good enough for the mainspace?

I’m talking about the page regarding Ultimate’s competitive scene. The game’s only been out for 5 months, and it’s competitive scene is still new, so of course there won’t be many tourney results or “era of the five gods” yet. It sums up everything about Ultimate’s competitive in a concise and easy-to-understand manner. I don’t have a right to actually move it yet, but in my opinion it’s complete. Lou Cena (talk) 03:56, May 13, 2019 (EDT)

That's the thing, the scene is only 5 months old. Only recently have there been many major tournaments in a row that started to define the meta game, many from February to April were only C-Tier. Even then, the meta is still changing, like with people complaining about Pichu and Peach to people complaining about Olimar and Snake. I say give it 2 more months until after the first PGR season is over, that's about the tail end of the early meta imo. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 07:13, May 13, 2019 (EDT)
Coming back about 2 months after asking this, PGR Ultimate appears to end tomorrow. If we add in results from that, then the page has enough content, and then it’s eligible for the mainspace, correct? Lou Cena (talk) 02:09, July 7, 2019 (EDT)
Yeah I'm fine with it. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 06:03, July 7, 2019 (EDT)

The missing page Character matchup (SSB4)

I don’t really know where to ask this other than from a user who has a good deal of competitive knowledge, but I’m curious as to why that page doesn’t exist when we have Character matchup (SSB), Character matchup (SSBM), and Character matchup (SSBB), and if there are plans to create Character matchup (SSBU) when we have an official tier list. Lou Cena (talk) 02:09, July 7, 2019 (EDT)

Deapite promising at the end of the 3rd tier list, Smashboards, as far as I know, never actually released an official character matchup chart for Smash 4. The same goes for Ultimate, we'll create the page when they release an official one. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 06:05, July 7, 2019 (EDT)

On this edit

It is not a good idea for users to partake in block-related discussions that are not their own, as it may interfere with what the staff are trying to do. Please do not do so. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Glow 17:20, July 8, 2019 (EDT)

I honestly didn't see a big problem with my edit, since I wasn't being involved with the actual block discussion but simply providing him with what he was asking for. If that won't work then I'll just avoid it next time. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 17:23, July 8, 2019 (EDT)

To be clear...

Two things. For one, PRs make someone notable if the PR is notable enough. Even if they're removed from the PR, they still retain that fame. Second, assuming I'm understanding your point on Eagle's talk page right, we don't use the notability tag to notify people that we need results. The results tag does that job itself. I understand the results tag is pretty bloated, but we also don't need unnecessary deletion debates because of tag misuse. Disaster Flare Disaster Flare signature image.png (talk) 13:08, July 22, 2019 (EDT)

Um you brought up something that I have already resolved and admitted to being my mistake, and I have started to lessen the use of the notability tag since I was misusing it, but thanks for the heads up anyways. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 13:10, July 22, 2019 (EDT)

News section

To be somewhat blunt, DtN 2019 isn't being featured in the News section for its Melee event; it had only 3 players in the Top 50 with none of them being in the Top 30, and it had less than 100 entrants. It's only necessary to list the winner in this case. (Also, please try to remember to read edit summaries, as I explained this there as well.) PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 06:19, July 27, 2019 (EDT)

Oops I probably missed your edit when adding in the information, I thought Gagesano just forgot. I'll keep it in mind in the future. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 06:34, July 27, 2019 (EDT)

pgr requirements

I see the thing that confused you. You thought that the entrant points and the pgr points added up. When they actually use either or. You can either be pgr through the total entrants or be pgr through enough pgr players, the value that the spreadsheet uses is which ever one is higher. You can see this in effect on the pgr 100 spreadsheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yTRjwvdFzA2Fwbsi0fWaxP3OGAdKsPasln1YTvWTpXs/edit#gid=1116292982 Gagesango (talk) 14:54, July 31, 2019 (EDT)

I don't understand where you came with that conclusion, since it has never been that way for the PGR. Looking at the document, entrants and PGR representation is still added up: for example, for DHA 2018, the entrants value was at 280, x2 it's 560. The PGR representation adds up to 672, allowing the final value to be 1376, making it A-Tier. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 15:09, July 31, 2019 (EDT)
Oh my bad, I looked at the wrong values, I am in the fault. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 15:11, July 31, 2019 (EDT)

Nintendo Switch being in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch can also be counted as a handheld if it's in handheld mode. So there has to be something that states that Ultimate is the second Smash game released on a handheld. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.143.198.229 (talkcontribs) 21:31, August 23, 2019‎

Then how did the page was created I want know, because this stayed up in my Sandbox for a while until today.
