Like previous Smash Summits, it was held at the Summit Gaming House, a private residence house in Los Angeles, California, and was closed to the general public.

Trivia
- This is Axe's first major tournament win with two or more members of the 2018 MPGR top 6 + PPMD in attendance, and this is also the first time a Pikachu main won under the same circumstances.
- In addition, this is the first Smash Summit that was won by a non-God.
- This is the first Smash Summit where Mew2King and SFAT did not attend, as Mew2King declined his invitation and SFAT qualified at Smash 'N' Splash 5 but declined due to a wedding[1].
- This is also S2J's first Smash Summit where he was invited rather than voted in.
- This is currently the Smash Summit with the most international attendance, with six non-U.S. players competing, either through invitation, qualifying, or being voted in.
- This is the first ever tournament that at least two of the five gods attended where none of them placed Top 4 (even including locals); the first tournament with two of the five gods was Zero Challenge 3 in 2007, featuring Mew2King and Mango, long before either player was dubbed a "god".
