The Maxim Tomato is an item that will reduce the damage of the person who picks it up. In Super Smash Bros., a Maxim Tomato subtracts 100% from a character's damage percentage, but in Super Smash Bros. Melee it only subtracts 50%. In each game, a player cannot take any damage for the short amount of time that the heart spends replenishing health. The Maxim Tomato is from the Kirby series.
