Fishing Rod is Isabelle's side special in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Overview
She pulls out a fishing rod and thrusts the line forward. She can use this move to grab faraway enemies and throw them afterwards, or as a tether recovery. It is unknown if Isabelle can hold onto enemies after she grabs them using this move, similar to a normal grab, or if the throwing is an automated part of the move.
Origin
This attack is based on the fishing rod item from the Animal Crossing series. The rod is used to catch fish from rivers and other bodies of water. In the original games, the player must wait for the shadow of a fish to bite their rod, and once that occurs, the player must react with a timely button press in order to properly catch the fish.
