The following list only applies to the SSBM version of Kirby.
Pros

- Lowest crouch in the game (can duck under most characters' grabs)
- Quick attacks
- Good defensive abilities
- Large shield in relation to body size
- Multiple jumps allow for more aggressive edge-guarding
- Can moonwalk (Albeit poorly)
- Can perform Kirbycide
Cons
- Generally weak moves, hard to get KOs off
- Many situations in which all jumps will disappear
- Light, thus easy to KO
- Very few ways to approach, due to a slow dash and air movement
- Escapable forward and back throws, even after they are initiated.
- Predictable, slow recovery

According to the 2006-2007 Tier List, Kirby is the third worst character in the game.
