Kirby (カービィ, Kābii) is a character in both SSB and SSBM. Although tier-wise he was one of the best characters in the original Super Smash Bros., in Super Smash Bros. Melee, he became one of the worst.

Pros & Cons

The following list only applies to the SSBM version of Kirby.

Pros

  • Decent horizontal and excellent vertical recovery
  • Opponents generally have less experience fighting against Kirby, because there are so few competitive Kirby users.
  • High range
  • Lowest crouch in the game (can duck under most characters' grabs)
  • Quick attacks
  • Good defensive abilities
  • Large shield in relation to body size
  • Multiple jumps allow for more aggressive edge-guarding
  • Can moonwalk (Albeit poorly)
  • Can perform Kirbycide

Cons

  • Generally weak moves, hard to get KOs off
  • Many situations in which all jumps will disappear
  • Light, thus easy to KO
  • Very few ways to approach, due to a slow dash and air movement
  • Escapable forward and back throws.
  • Predictable, slow recovery
