—"Today's Item" Super Smash Blog description for Vulpix (Alola form)
|
Vulpix appears in Ultimate in its Alola form. Once summoned, it will attack opposing fighters with its signature move, Icy Wind (こごえるかぜ, Chilling Wind), temporarily freezing them.
Origin
Alolan Vulpix's official artwork from
Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Vulpix is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Red and Blue, though it was exclusive to Blue, acting as the equivalent to Growlithe. It evolves into Ninetales with the help of a Fire Stone.
In Pokémon Sun and Moon, several Generation I Pokémon received Alolan regional variants to accommodate for the climate changes in the game — among those was Vulpix, who received an Ice-type variant, with its evolution now requiring an Ice Stone and Ninetails changing to an Ice/Fairy-type. An Alolan Vulpix nicknamed "Snowy" (シロン, Shiron) is featured in the Sun and Moon animated series as Lillie's first Pokémon, having hatched from an egg.
