Wario seems to be mostly unchanged from his SSB4 appearance. His moveset this time around, however, looks to be a slighty more representative of ''Wario Land'', with the return of his signature Shoulder Bash move as his dash attack and his down throw looking more like a Ground Pound from the Wario Land series.

Wario (SSBU)

Wario (ワリオ, Wario) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was confirmed as a playable character on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Wario seems to be mostly unchanged from his SSB4 appearance, however his moveset appears to have been slightly altered to be more reflective of the Wario Land series, as his iconic Shoulder Bash and Ground Pound are now referenced in his attacks.

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Wario's model features a more subdued color scheme. His clothing now features simple detailing, similar to Brawl. His model otherwise appears unchanged.
  • Change The buttons on Wario's default overalls are now gold; in previous titles, they were silver.
  • Change Down taunt has a more comical, "poppier" animation.

Ground moves

  • Change Wario's previous forward tilt appears to have been replaced with a heavy-handed slap.
  • Change Wario has a new dash attack, resembling his iconic Shoulder Bash from the Wario Land series.

Throws/other moves

  • Change Wario's down throw animation appears a bit more forceful with Wario clenching his fists upon contact, making the move bear a closer resemblance to the Ground Pound from the Wario Land games.

Special moves

  • Change Wario Waft's fart cloud now produces a significantly smaller amount of particles.
  • Change Wario-Man is no longer a transformation. Instead, Wario dashes forward and if it connects, Wario-Man performs a cinematic comic book-style attack that launches enemies away at the end.
