Battles would be a best of five, with the first four games being singles matches on pre-defermined stages: [[Battlefield]] for Game 1, [[Yoshi's Story]] for Game 2, [[Dream Land]] for Game 3, and [[Fountain of Dreams]] for Game 4. No player could play more than one game up until Game 5. Game 5 was a doubles match that any teammate could play in, and with the stage selected by standard stage striking.
