Kurabba (クラッバ) is a top level Smash 64 Yoshi from Japan. He is considered to be the best Yoshi main in Japan, ahead of Hiyo, Prince and bonobono, because of strong placings since mid-2016 and his outplacing of other Yoshis.
Some of Kurabba's most impressive tournament runs include Kanto 2017 and Super Smash Con 2017.
Tournament history
Super Smash Con 2016
Kurabba was invited as the final sponsored attendee by Shears/the 64 community to Super Smash Con 2016 as an alternative after some other top level Japanese players were unable to attend. One of Shear's statements was that he would most likely outplace KeroKeroppi, even though he did not make it out of pools at Kansai 2016. However, other North American players did not know how strong he was as he had not been to an international tournament and Kurabba's lack of internet exposure.
At the tournament, Kurabba easily won pools and made it into the winners side of the bracket. He then took sets off of BarkSanchez and unexpectedly, the top player in Peru, Alvin, which raised speculation over a common belief that Peru is the best region of Smash 64, let alone a top region. He went on to be knocked out of winners bracket by Wizzrobe in Yoshi dittos. Shear's statement was then affirmed after Kurabba eliminated KeroKeroppi to make it into top 8. He then lost to his partner wangera to place 7th, outplacing the other 2 more well known Japanese Yoshi mains, Prince (9th) and bonobono (17th).
After Super Smash Con 2016
In the following Japanese tournaments in 2016 and 2017, he placed well, consistently placing in the top 12 and outplacing other Yoshi mains. His most notable performance was at Kanto 2017, where he defeated wario, who was number 1 seed and considered the best player in the world, twice: first in pools and then eliminating him in round of last 16. Later he lost to Moyashi and finished 5th.
On July 19th, he confirmed via Twitter that he would be attending Super Smash Con 2017.
Super Smash Con 2017
At Super Smash Con 2017, he made one of the greatest bracket runs in Smash 64 history, defeating Isai (playing as Luigi and Link), wario, SuPeRbOoMfAn and wangera, 4 of the greatest players in the world, to make it to grand finals, where he ended up losing to Fukurou 1-3 and 2-3 to place 2nd at the most stacked Smash 64 event of all time.
