Nominating for speedy deletion[edit]

This article is not needed because everything in it is already covered on the Young Link page. Thomasonbush 07:36, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

First appearance[edit]

Toon Link's first appearance was in Four Swords, the multiplayer mode for A Link To The Past, not The Windwaker- 69.121.179.87 17:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Toon Link's first apperance was in windwaker, not Four SwordsRadioM04 21:16, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes 4 Swords link is an entirely different person. Kperfekt722 (talk) 02:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

What do we define as "Toon Link"? One could argue his first appearance was the Legend of Zelda, as that Link is quite short and cartoony looking. In my opinion, only Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks should count, as Brawl's Toon Link is clearly based on those incarnations. Grim Tuesday (talk) 10:31, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Well, there are multiple Links and the Link we know as "Toon Link" first appeared in Wind Waker, hence why his trophy lists that his first appearance was in Wind Waker. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 10:41, June 24, 2010 (UTC)
Based on a quick count, there are 10 Links. Since Toon Link has the Wind Waker in a taunt, he's the one that appears in The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic 11:52, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Is Toon Link really the same character as the other Links?[edit]

I've tried to bring to light twice the fact that Toon Link and the other Links are not the same character- just ask any LoZ fan or consult the official timeline. These edits have been reverted, making me confused. This is obviously the Toon Link from Wind Waker (not Spirit Tracks, as that Link never uses a baton). Of course, I could be making a silly mistake, but could someone please tell me why "Toon Link is one of Link's multiple incarnations?" Andymii (talk) 17:09, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

Toon Link is one of the several Links that appears throughout the games. The way its phrased now makes it clear that Link isn't one character, so I don't understand your confusion. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 17:25, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

Links are not incarnations of each other- they are just Hyrulian heroes, who, by tradition, wear green. In my opinion, the current wording makes it sound like Link is a single character that can take many forms. Andymii (talk) 18:55, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

Being reincarnated means your soul is transferred to a different body- what the page is stating is that the soul of the hero, Link, is transferred to many different Links, who are all unique but share the same spirit/soul of the hero and the Triforce of Courage, which is confirmed through canon. Although, it should be changed from "incarnation" to "reincarnation", as incarnation apparently means something completely different. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. That makes a lot more sense. Thank you! Andymii (talk) 21:21, 23 May 2015 (EDT)

New Hyrule[edit]

My reasoning in the edit summary was flawed but after I published I did realize better reasoning: As mentioned on the page, Smash Bros., while featuring the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Toon Link character-wise, refers to him as the artstyle (much like Pokemon Trainer, who uses Red's appearance, but is a representation of all Pokemon Trainers). The other cel-shaded Link that he is shown representing in Smash originates from New Hyrule (Spirit Tracks Link), and other cel-shaded Links who have no mention in Smash are shown originating in Hyrule (Four Swords games Link and TFH Link). Since we list the most recent appearance and first appearance for the artstyle, shouldn't we list the homeworld of the other Links used in the artstyle (or at least Spirit Tracks Link, who appears and is referred to in Smash)? ---Preceding unsigned comment added by cupid♥. He's WW/PH Link only, honestly; the only reason I left the thing about "cel-shaded generally" at all is because of weird nitpickiness about Four Swords coming out 11 days before Wind Waker (and it's messier across regions), even though the artstyle is clearly Wind Waker's first in terms of development cycle. There's no need to note the other cel-shaded Links for any reason because the Toon Link in Smash mostly isn't representing them. Miles (talk) 18:55, 8 February 2016 (EST)
The page also mentions the Toon Link from Spirit Tracks in both trophies and Spirit Train description. If we're counting that as a separate character, technically those need to be removed. You can't really be picky with information. ---Preceding unsigned comment added by cupid♥. Or maybe DatNuttyKid. 20:38, 8 February 2016 (EST)

Been a hell of a while since I've seen you active on here, Nutta.
That aside, the Toon Link in Smash is explicitly the one from Wind Waker (and, by extension, Phantom Hourglass), so I don't think an updated place of origin needs to be a thing. And besides, looking at it, Four Swords isn't set in any particular place in Hyrule. AidanzapunkSig1.pngAidan, the Lovely Dragon WarriorAidanzapunkSig2.png 11:28, 30 January 2017 (EST)
