Is it necessary...[edit]

...to have different pages for each of the variations of the custom specials? If we had them all on one page, I feel that would be more convenient, since otherwise, one of the four pages we will have to make for each special move in Smash 4 will just be a link to the other three pages about the default and two custom specials. Am I making sense here?

To explain better, let me do this: This page, Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special, will have no purpose other than to link to Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special/Default, Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special/Custom 1, and Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special/Custom 2. At the present, Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special/Default redirects to Marth (SSB4)/Neutral special, but I don't really feel that makes sense.

So what I am saying is that all of the information on these four pages should just be put on one page. What is your opinion on the matter? I feel this is something worth having a discussion about. John John3637881 Signature.png PK SMAAAASH!! 15:55, 28 October 2015 (EDT)

This is a very valid point. The only characters who require one page for every move are Palutena and the Mii Fighters. Almost every custom move has moderate differences at best, damage and knockback more often than not. In this case, a blast of wind and a dash forward don't deserve their own pages. [/X special/Default], [/X special/Custom 1], and [/X special/Custom 2] are for the technical information of each variation, and elaboration of the variation's strengths and weaknesses. (For various reasons, having technial information for all variations on one page is infeasible.) [/X special], if not just a redirect to [/X special/Default], would be a higher-level overview of the move as a whole with minimal technical information. It should be somewhat similar to how Mario (SSBB)/Neutral attack describes the attack overall, and has subpages for data of each individual part of the attack. Toomai Glittershine ??? Care to elaborate on the "various reasons"? A lot of these move pages are quite short, and condensing them into fewer, larger pages would seem preferable to me. Miles (talk) 17:33, 28 October 2015 (EDT)

It's a difficult decision. If the pages are split, like Toomai said, there will be too many pages for just one move. However, if the pages are merged, like Miles suggested, they will be teeming with boards, and will be hard to edit and navigate without the content table. They may be short in byte count, but the data templates are quite expensive processing-wise, particularly the frame strips. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Boss 09:33, 29 October 2015 (EDT)
