| |
| A six-player battle is a special type of battle in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Super Smash Bros. 4. Unlike in other battles, there can be a maximum of six players fighting here. It is only used for Single Player modes, such as Multi-Man mode, or Event Matches in Melee. In six-player battles, there are a maximum of six characters on-screen, whereof five usually teamed up against the player, and mostly being either the Fighting Wire Frames in Melee, the Alloys in Brawl, or the Mii Fighters in SSB4. However, they aren't considered too hard, as the CPU enemies tend to have low AI levels or handicaps. The only exception is Cruel mode, where the Wire Frames/Alloys/Miis have significantly high handicaps and attack in a frenzy, with the player having a low handicap, making the battle hard.
| |
| | |
| In Melee, in some six-player battles like the Legendary Pokémon event match, if too many attacks hit characters at the same time, some of the sound effects or voices will be cancelled, or the game will lag. This is because the GameCube cannot reproduce too many sounds at the same time. This is not known to happen under normal circumstances in Brawl, however. Also, in both games, some items like Hammers and the Dragoon are turned off in six-player battles to prevent lag or glitches, or just to make them more difficult.
| |
| | |
| For Super Smash Bros. Melee, the debug menu hack allows the player to have six-player battles in Versus Mode. However, this requires extra Action Replay codes to enable it. It also allows player to personalize the battle more, such as putting just five characters, changing CPU levels, selecting team battles, altering the rules, among others. When the battle is finished, however, the "No Contest" screen will display, as if the player had forfeited the match, and only the first four characters will be featured on the screen. If players 5 and 6 are set to human players, their indicators will both be red, and player 6 will Shield endlessly.
| |
| | |
| In six-player battles, damage meters are featured narrower in Melee, and shrunk a bit for seven-player battles in Brawl, so that damage meters fit more comfortably.
| |
| | |
| In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, six-player battles are only used for the Multi-Man mode. If Multi-Man Brawl is played cooperatively in this game, it also turns into a seven-player battle, with the two human players and a maximum of five Alloys on-screen. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, six-player battles are used for several other Single Player matches. These are:
| |
| *Against the Fighting Wire Frames on Adventure Mode.
| |
| *Against the Mr. Game & Watch team on All-Star Mode.

| |
| *Event 28: Puffballs Unite!.
