The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters.
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Please also fix old results on Smasher pages that do not abide to this standard. Refer to our Smasher article guidelines to see how results tables should be formatted.

Template[edit]

I think it would be a nice addition to write an event template different from a Event Edition template. The wiki currently have a template for event/tournament editions (Apex2014, Apex2015, etc) but not one for a tournament series, like Apex, EVO, CEO, etc -- PFFP June 22, 2015

This isn't the right place to talk about Template suggestions or I was simply ignored? PFFP (talk) 19:33, 29 July 2015 (EDT)
Are you referring to an infobox for the top-right of a page? It's true, we don't have an infobox for tournament series at the moment. If people want such a thing, I don't see any real reason not to go for it. Miles (talk) 22:45, 29 July 2015 (EDT)
Yes, exactly, but I suck at wiki text and the last time I messed with templates everything went downhill. I think the crucial info a Event Infobox should display is:
Logo
Founded
Region/Country
Current champion
website
Organizers

Page URL[edit]

Since it's a tournament series, like Apex, to rename the page URL (and title) to match the tournament status? "EVO (tournament series)" or the full name with a redirect page from "EVO" to "Evolution Championship Series". -- PFFP June 22, 2015

Disambig[edit]

There any reason why we can't make this a disambiguation? Not really much, here, and let's face it: the page acts like a hub to the individual events. Serpent King (talk) 11:49, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

I actually want to rework the page to make it more of description page of the event's history, adding entrance data across the years, with more general information. Things like this:
History
2007-08: Smash debut and Brawl fiasco
Cover the first intentions of the Cannon brothers to include Melee at EVO, in early 2004, EVO 2007 and more information on the EVO 2008 Brawl tournament ruleset controversy.
2013-14: Smash return relations with Nintendo
Cover the EVO 2013 donation drive to include it on the lineup, the Melee it on Me effort to revive the scene through that opportunity and the Nintendo shutdown controversy.
2015-present: Smash 4, record attendance and future
Cover the pick up of two smash games at EVO due to the Melee revival and release of the new game, while expanding on the scope of the event with record numbers for both games. Wizard'd interview at the Capcom Pro Talk talking about Smash future at EVO and the event capacity to hold multiple tournaments with 2k entrants.PFFP (talk) 19:29, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
PS:My intention is to follow the example of the Olympic Games and World Cup Wikipedia pages, with the date system of persons, like the Kanye West history section. PFFP (talk) 19:43, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
Errr...why? Serpent King (talk) 19:44, 6 August 2015 (EDT)
Well, Apex has a tournament series page, that tells the story of the event. It's not perfect, but if no one has a problem with that page, why not expand this one in a similar fashion? Some of this info doesn't fit on each event page, coming out as trivia. Attendance history is somewhat interesting too, and while now it's obvious that EVO's the largest Smash tournament every year they pick a Smash game, this might not be case on the long run.PFFP (talk) 19:50, 6 August 2015 (EDT)

Melee Evo Winners[edit]

The idea to feature the champions of a tournament series on the main page of that tournament is nice, but I think this would be better organized if it were on its own section. "==Champions==" and then divided into games "===Melee===", "===Brawl===" and finally "===Smash 4===". What do you guys think? PFFP (talk) 22:08, 8 May 2016 (EDT)

EVO Japan[edit]

Is there a reason why EVO Japan is not a part of this page? If there isn't, should we add it to this page or have it on its own page?

EVO Japan is a separate series from EVO. There has only been one for Smash as of right now, with another coming this winter, so I'd say hold off on it for now. CookiesCnC Signature.pngCreme 16:04, November 1, 2019 (EDT)
