I really wish that you would have asked me before posting this, but that's fine. I understand. Edit: that looks really passive-aggressive. I don't mean it that way. Semicolon (talk) 23:27, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't think you wouldn't have any problems with it... but I do feel that it's a significant wikiquestion, so if you don't mind I'd prefer it stayed up. :/ --Shadowcrest 23:34, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
No, it's fine. I was just surprised to see it, that's all. Semicolon (talk) 00:24, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

From my viewpoint, I have to generally agree with Semicolon here. Just to weigh the options:

  • Block the IP for 2 weeks, and then...
    • ...the vandal comes back, and vandalizes again, requiring additional effort to clean up their mess (common), or...
    • ...nothing happens from that IP again, ever (happens occasionally), or...
    • ...good faith edits from the IP (almost never).
  • Block the IP permanently, and then...
    • ...nothing happens from that IP again.

It just seems like it's more time-effective to deal with the vandal's IP once, and never worry about it again than to hope they'll have a change of heart / IP change and contribute in good faith, which is rather rare from my experience here. Miles (talk) 01:28, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Case in point. Miles (talk) 22:22, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
That's one of the people being discussed on this page, so I sort of missed how that applies..... --Shadowcrest 22:51, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
It's the best case to prove my point, that's all. Miles (talk) 22:53, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Since it's one of the people being debated on this page it doesn't really prove a point?... --Shadowcrest 23:11, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you're saying; my point is above, not in your discussion, though it tends to follow Semi's opinion. Miles (talk) 23:13, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
That IP is one of the people being discussed in this log. You banning it doesn't really show anything- it just shows your opinion, which was already stated without banning. --Shadowcrest 23:39, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
