The undead glitch allows Giga Bowser or Wario-Man to survive after being KO'd in Stamina.
The undead glitch is a glitch in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4 that allows Giga Bowser, Wario-Man, Giga Mac, Mega Charizard X, or Mega Lucario to survive after being defeated in Stamina Mode.

How to perform
When this occurs, if Giga Bowser, Giga Mac, Mega Charizard X, or Mega Lucario's HP is depleted, their stamina gets reduced to 0 HP (zero hit points) and their transformations are undone. Then they are able to continue to fight (despite having "0 HP" displayed). Being touched by any hitbox even if it deals no damage (a Banana Peel, F.L.U.D.D. from Mario, or Water Gun from Squirtle) or hit by a status move (such as being put asleep or using recovery items which normally recover HP like Food) gets the character KO'd. A 0 HP Bowser, Little Mac, Charizard, or Lucario can freely get another Smash Ball to trigger the glitch again.
Bowser
While playing as Bowser in Stamina Mode, get a Smash Ball and transform into Giga Bowser. If Bowser's HP is depleted while transformed, he will instantly revert to his normal form with no hit points. Bowser can continue fighting as normal until he is hit by an attack, where he will die normally. He can even be KO'ed by non-damaging attacks such as Mario's F.L.U.D.D..

Wario
With the exception of Wario-Man in Brawl, it's possible that an undead character can win a stamina match if they remain untouched (with 0 HP). If they defeat all of their opponents as described above, they (with zero hit points) can win a match. Upon triggering the glitch with Wario-Man in Brawl, however, he loses his damage meter, and is therefore counted as having been KO'd. This also means that if the match is 1-on-1 then the match ends when Wario-Man gets KO'd. This is not the case when doing a 3-4 player VS. If Wario-Man (in Brawl) defeats his opponents, the winner becomes the last opponent who was defeated by Wario-Man's attack. However, in Smash 4, Wario-Man behaves like all characters.
In Stamina Mode, with at least 2 or 3 opponents, get Wario to low HP (1 HP), then use a Smash Ball to transform into Wario-Man. Then, either eat explosive items to cause damage or fly above the screen to gain Hoop damage until Wario-Man's HP is depleted. When the transformation ends, Wario will get back up with no damage meter at all. Also, Wario-Man counts as dead before the transformation ends, thus, if another player KOs all the remaining players, the match will end. Rarely, Wario-Man will become KO'd, rather than transforming back.

Effects
With the removal of full moveset transformation Final Smashes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the undead glitch does not occur in the game.
This is no different from having 1 HP in most aspects, but several normally harmless things can still KO Bowser or Wario:

*Getting hit by F.L.U.D.D. or fully charged Water Gun
Characters that can induce the glitch
*Vacuum effects
*Giga Bowser
*Step on a Banana Peel
*Mega Charizard X
*An uncharged Wario Waft
*Giga Mac
*Falling asleep
*Mega Lucario
*Isaac's attack.
*Wario-Man
**Note that because Wario-Man is normally invincible, he must damage himself to perform the glitch (either from Magnifying-Glass Damage and/or eating explosive items).

Other facts
Trivia
*When having performed this glitch with Bowser, one can safely break a Smash Ball again.
*When Bowser defeats all of his opponents while at 0 HP, he will win the match; Wario, however, cannot win a match with 0 HP. The victory goes to the last character surviving other than Wario.
*Use of a Superspicy Curry will result in the character eating it but without the usual effects.

The undead glitch is a glitch in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4 that allows Giga Bowser, Wario-Man, Giga Mac, Mega Charizard X, or Mega Lucario to survive after being defeated in Stamina Mode.

With the removal of full moveset transformation Final Smashes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the undead glitch does not occur in the game.

Characters that can induce the glitch[edit]

Trivia[edit]

 • Use of a Superspicy Curry will result in the character eating it but without the usual effects.
