Simply put, exploiting glitches is my favorite thing to do in video games. And this glitch is definitely one of my favorites. That being said, I was screwing around with it, and decided to do the one player method with two controllers. Neither controller had a character. (I was trying to see if Crazy Hand could show up or something.) The result was...interesting, to say the least.
What happened was only Master Hand (in port 3) showed up, even though both Players 3 and 4 showed the Master Hand icon. However, when an attack was performed, Master Hand would attack as if a target was there (even though there clearly wasn't), and both Players 3 and 4 received damage. What I wanna know is if anyone has an explanation for this phenomenon. With some more testing, I found it to be somewhat of a loophole regarding something on the page itself:

It could be that both are simultaneously controlled by port 3, and their hitboxes are colliding (as Nyargle theorized). Diffrence with versions?[edit]

Merge discussion[edit]

Not Working![edit]

I tried the two controller stategy and managed to get to the stage select screen, but when I selected a stage, Player 3 was still just a normal character.



Make sure Player 3 is set to HMN, with no character selected.

cant control master hand[edit]

Your signature is... broken. I don't even know how, but I do know that even if you were to fix it, at its current length it's over the limit. You should make it short and sweet, yet clear (i.e. your username must be in it). I can't explain why you can't control Master Hand, but the fact that Sheik's name is in place of Master Hand's is already in the article, as is the fact that there's no one clapping for him. It's a hard glitch to do, so it takes a couple tries. but i think 2 controllers are the easiest, but it took me like a million tries to do it. but, it does work

Event match[edit]

Did you know that if you load event match 50 (the one where you face Master hand and Crazy hand) you can still play as master hand? the Master hands appear in the same place. Make sure that master hand is player 3, and that u are inputting moves on the d-pad, not the analog stick.

Won't work at all[edit]

I spent about an hour using BOTH methods, and none of them worked. I even wrote down the instructions, and no matter how my timing would be, no matter what, it wouldn't work. For 2 player mode: Everything works up until the point where player 2 and 1 press A at the same time (P1 over Name field, and P2 over Back). For the 1 player mode: I tried the "press A and B at same time. Release A while holding B, and press A when cursor is just above Name Entry". All it does is take me to the Name Maker, or just takes me out of CSS back to the menu. Is the glitch even real?--Shade 15:22, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps if Master Hand had his own boards on SWF and they posted a guide for him, then that might be acceptable to link to since we link every character's SSBB article to guide put up by their respective boards. But to my knowledge, Master Hand has no boards since he is a glitch character and has no competitively following. Technically, he cannot die in any mode but Stamina Mode. However, when he wins, the game freezes, which results in a forfiet in tournaments that allow him. Technically, yes. But there is a simple solution to those problems. If Master Hand gets a KO you can immediately L+R+A+Start because he has already one, and otherwise you can just do it 1 second before the end of the round to prevent a freeze. What's up with the 2 controller method?[edit]

Is it really as random as everyone says, or is the timing slightly different than pressing the button on both controllers at the same time. I've tried it on Dolphin with the A button set to the same key on both controllers (the equivalent of having two Wavebird receivers set to the same frequency), and it doesn't seem to work. Tier position[edit]

He has a tier position. See here. The bottom tier comprises of "Gengar", but that is defined as "glitch characters". As there is only one known glitch character, Master Hand comprises the bottom tier. Anon 04:05, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Taunt?[edit]

Does the Master Hand have a taunt? I'd try it myself, but I only have 2 Gamecube controllers so I don't know. You got PWN'D by LinkLink1.jpg

While I was playing, it wasn't freezing at all and she can even transform into Sheik without the game crashing. I know this shouldn't happen. Let me ask this...[edit]

Simply put, exploiting glitches is my favorite thing to do in video games. And this glitch is definitely one of my favorites. That being said, I was screwing around with it, and decided to do the one player method with two controllers. Neither controller had a character. (I was trying to see if Crazy Hand could show up or something.) The result was...interesting, to say the least.

What happened was only Master Hand (in port 3) showed up, even though both Players 3 and 4 showed the Master Hand icon. However, when an attack was performed, Master Hand would attack as if a target was there (even though there clearly wasn't), and both Players 3 and 4 received damage. With some more testing, I found it to be somewhat of a loophole regarding something on the page itself:

"When the player makes the glitch occur with two players (or one player and one CPU) and they don't choose any character, all players will be considered to be Master Hand, but only one will appear until one of them moves. The two Master Hands can move only if one of them is a CPU, as a human player can only control Master Hand if he/she is Player 3. Also, if three or four players are chosen as Master Hand on a battle, the game almost always freezes, with Master Hand's laugh being heard at first."

2+ playable Master Hands[edit]

A few days ago, my girlfriend, brother, and I came across the possibility of having more than one Master Hand. Coming here now, I find this was kind of discussed in 2015, in the section "Let me ask this..." However, we were able to get the Master Hands to take different places by using the laser attack, and we have photographs to prove it.
