:Well, I know that in Brawl, you have to push the stick 80% sideways in 5 frames to f-smash, and 66.25% vertically in 4 frames to u/d-smash, but I can't find how long after that you can press the attack button to get a smash attack. I think with f-smash it can be anytime before dash turns into run, and for u-smash it can be anytime before you jump off the ground, but for d-smash I have no idea. I vote we get rid of the categorization of 'technique'... it's simply another type of attack - Ashran111 02:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, it's a really, really basic technique. More than just hitting a button, I guess? FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 06:56, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Knockback[edit]

So I already know that charging a smash attack increases its base knockback, but does it increase the scaling? - Drilly Dilly (talk) 22:12, 2 September 2015 (EDT)

Neither, it just increases the damage. This does mean that the move does more knockback, as damage dealt is a part of the knockback calculation, but there's no change to the base knockback. Bazkip (talk) 16:26, 17 September 2015 (EDT)
