The All-Star Match gameplay is unchanged; like its predecessors, you must defeat five different opponents in 4 minutes and with 2 stock. Your damage percentage is carried over between each match.
The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win five different stock matches, all within a time limit of 4 minutes, where the player will start with 2 stocks and the opponents start with 1 stock. The CPU Marth and Luigi's artificial intelligence is set at Level 5, the CPU Jigglypuff and Mewtwo's artificial intelligence is set at Level 6, and the CPU Mr. Game & Watch's artificial intelligence is set at Level 7.

In this edition, you fight Marth in Temple (with Fire Emblem alternate music), Luigi in Kingdom II, Jigglypuff in Poke Floats, Mewtwo in Final Destination, and Mr. Game & Watch in Flat Zone. It should be noted that this is the first All-Star Match with unlockable characters.
Marth will be battled on Temple (with the Fire Emblem musical theme played as the alternate music), Luigi will be battled on Mushroom Kingdom II, Jigglypuff will be battled on Poké Floats, Mewtwo will be battled on Final Destination, and Mr. Game & Watch will be battled on Flat Zone. Similar to the standard battles in the All-Star Mode, the player's stock and damage percentage is carried over between matches. Icons representing the player's upcoming opponents and the order in which they appear is visible in the top left corner of the screen. Each stage transition occurs with a slow fade to black while the next stage loads.

All-Star Match 4 (オールスター戦4, All-Star Battle 4) is the 40th event match of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and the fourth of five All-Star Matches.

Trivia[edit]
