| ==Story==
| |
| When you start the game, you must set an in-game clock. After this, you name your character. In Gold and Silver you are always restricted to playing as a male character like in the games' predecessors, ''Pokemon Blue'', ''Pokemon Red'' and [''Pokemon Yellow'']. However, in Pokemon Crystal, you are able to choose your gender. You are then able to choose a starter Pokemon from Professor Elm, and off you on a Pokemon Adventure!

| The button system is the same from R/B/Y, except that you can now 'register' a Key Item on the 'select' button and use it by pushing select. Another advantage is that you can hold more items, because the Bag is divided into several parts, including Balls, Key Items and Items. This means that the items are sorted and you can easily sort through them. One downside is that Key Items cannot be stored in the PC, but that does allow you to save space in your PC.

| Many Pokemon from Poke Balls, such as Ho-Oh, Lugia, Celebi and Wobbaffet, originated from this generation of Pokemon.
