Temple: Hermès Edition was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate major held in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France, from September 1st-5th, 2021. With over 800 entrants, it is one of the largest Smash tournaments in Europe, and was the largest Smash tournament in France until COLOSSEL 2022. Although several top players from outside of Europe were confirmed to go, a few of them, including MkLeo, Maister, and Zackray, dropped out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2]
The tournament was initially set to take place from May 29th-30th, but was postponed due to the aforementioned pandemic. In addition, a doubles event was planned, but was cancelled halfway through the bracket after the tournament fell behind schedule.
The tournament was criticized for having a small venue and poor ventilation, leading several players to joke about both the crowd and the smell at the venue.[3][4]
