===SSBM Rules===
----

====General rules====
General (apply to all events unless otherwise noted):
- 8 minute time limit on all matches.
- Items off.
- Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
- First stage is random from the Neutral stages listed below.
- Each player is allowed to reset the random stage once; this forces a new random stage to be picked. If the new stage has been previously reset by either player during the same set, that stage is reset again. (Random Stage Reset)
- The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)
- No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
- Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime.
- Each person (or team) may choose one counter-pick stage to be disabled for the entire set at the START OF THE SET, after characters have been chosen but before the random stage has been picked. You may not ban neutral stages.
- Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
- For doubles: Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.
- Wobbling is banned.
====Tournament Formats====
Teams - Standard 'MLG' Ruleset, Double Elimination
Singles - Swiss Format, Top 16 Advance to a Standard 'MLG' Ruleset, Double Elimination

THE SWISS SYSTEM - A PRIMER

- The Swiss system is based on a set of rounds with an accumulative ranking ladder (much like the AFL or NRL ladders). The difference in the swiss system is that you play unique opponents that share a similar win/loss ratio to yourself.
- The first round will be completely randomized. In every round, you play your opponent in 2 games (stages are randomly elected). The result should be recorded as 2W-0L, 1W-1L, or 0W-2L.
- Singles will be played in as many successive rounds as possible within a time limit (say, 3 hours). The faster the group completes their rounds, the more rounds will be completed.
- The final 8 players will advance into a standard MLG Double Elimination Final (If people prefer Top 16 advancing into a single elimination bracket, let me know).
====Stage Rules====
- Singles Neutral: Final Destination, Dream Land 64, Fountain of Dreams, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Pokemon Stadium.
- Singles counterpicks: all Singles Neutral stages plus Pokefloats, Rainbow Cruise, Jungle Japes, Kongo Jungle 64, Mute City, Brinstar, Green Greens, Corneria.
- Doubles Neutral: Final Destination, Dream Land 64, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Pokemon Stadium, Kongo Jungle 64.
- Doubles counterpicks: all Doubles Neutrals plus Pokefloats, Rainbow Cruise, Jungle Japes, Brinstar, Green Greens, Corneria.
- Things to note: Fountain of Dreams and Mute City are banned for doubles; Kongo Jungle 64 on Doubles Neutral.
====Miscellaneous Rules====
- The Mages' DQ Rule is applicable when a player is late for a bracket match and it goes as follows:
2 Minutes Late – Warning
4 Minutes Late – Loss of first match of set
6 Minutes Late – Loss of set
This will be enforced judiciously.
- Each player has 10 minutes to report to their pool after it has been called. Each pool will have a printed order to run matches; anyone who is not present for their match when it comes up in order will forfeit that match (if it has been 10 minutes since the pool started). This will also be strictly enforced. We will do the best we can to give estimates on when pools will start, but it is 100% your responsibility to make sure you're at your pool when it starts.
====Crew battle Rules====
It will be a round robin tournament, with a minimum of 5 players per team. For the VIC/QLD/NSW/SA teams, they all must equally match the maximum number of participants possible. Stage selection is completely random from the neutral 6, and each player is entitled to 1 stage cancel per match. You can change character if you win a match but must be done before the opposing player has chosen there character.
===Bracket Information===
- Bracket matches are best 2 of 3, 4 stock.
- Winners' bracket finals, losers' bracket finals, and championship sets are all best 3 of 5.
===Pools Information===
- Pool matches are best 2 of 3, 4 stock (maybe 3 depending on time).
- All General rules apply to pool matches, including Advanced Slob Picks, Dave's Stupid Rule, Double Blind picks, and stage banning.
- Your ranking within your pool will be determined by the number of sets you win. Individual games won will not be considered, except:
In the case of a tie, the tied players will be ranked in the following order:
Number of individual games won.
Number of individual games lost (fewer games gives a higher rank).
Head-to-head records.
Please note that beating the player you're tied with in the pool is the last criteria considered. Do not complain if someone you beat advances and you do not.
- To summarize: you are playing a full, bracket-style set for each of your pool matches, and will be ranked primarily on the number of sets you win.
