:Modded Pichu cheating scandal or Super Pichu cheating scandal. I think "cheating" is important as a descriptor for newcomers to the subject. ::Reiterating what I already said on discord since communicating with fellow editors can be difficult sometimes: 1) It does not matter whether one reddit post or video does not refer to it as "Super Pichu" if it is still a common name for it after the fact. 2) Even if you do insist on "old=better" for some reason then Mark Michaels' video from 7 years ago showing the gameplay refers to it as "Super Pichu". 3) One of the videos you showed on discord not having it in the title, Lil Homie's, still literally refers to it as "Super Pichu" both in a video chapter and in the video itself. 4) Posts in Eventhubs and EsportsTalk both refer to it as "Super Pichu". :I support Super Pichu cheating scandal. Alongside Voqeo's points, I'll reiterate what I said on Discord, where part of why this scandal blown up so much was the absurd degree the Pichu was modded; if Chaos only gave Pichu a few subtle buffs like adding 5 more KBG to his up smash and 2 less frames of landing lag on his nair, it wouldn't have been close to as infamous as it was, if it was ever even discovered in the first place (people would have probably not suspected a thing if they died to Pichu's u-smash 3% earlier than usual or missed a punish on nair, and Chaos wouldn't have been able to beat all the players he did with a more subtly buffed Pichu). "Super Pichu", aside from being a common nickname for this modded Pichu, immediately conveys that this Pichu was severely overpowered, whereas "Modded Pichu" and "Hacked Pichu" does not.
:As for "Pichugate", that seems a lot more uncommon, and I don't think will get searched as much as the other options, though I would be ok with it being a redirect. As for "Ohio cheating scandal", it has the same issue as "Chaos cheating scandal" where it highlights a much less prominent detail of the incident (just as most people don't know or remember the Pichu's player tag, they don't know or remember the region it occurred in). Additionally, "Ohio cheating scandal" could give the impression it was Ohio's broad playerbase that participated in some organized cheating scandal, when it was just a single player, and otherwise is very vague about what cheating actually happened. Omega Tyrant 10:11, October 26, 2023 (EDT)

:Super Pichu cheating scandal is the best name in my opinion echoing OT and Voqeo's points. I'll also add that on Discord "modded/hacked Pichu" was added as an option as it would explain that the Pichu was hacked, however the "cheating" part in the title already gives the readers an implication that the Pichu was likely modified to begin with, without explicitly mentioning "hacked" or "modded" like the other options, so I feel there won't be an issue with not mentioning modded/hacked in the title. Move proposal[edit]
While it's new and thus could probably be moved without much fuss, there are some arguments to be made on the name, so I'm opening this up. Not many people know this as the "Chaos cheating scandal," so the name, while descriptive, isn't very SEO'd.
There are some potential names we could use:
- Super Pichu cheating scandal - Refers to the "Super Pichu" people describe the cheated Pichu as.
- Modded or Hacked Pichu scandal - Descriptive version of the above that drops "cheating."
- Pichugate - A common pejorative name for the incident that's referenced in some articles and videos; a reference to the Watergate political scandal.
- Ohio cheating scandal - Matches the Wikipedia formatting, eg. The 2018 Australian ball-tampering scandal.
I'm personally for the first, so my proposal names it. It's used in some media, such as these;
- The Difference Between Cheating in Esports vs Traditional Sports
- The story of how the cheater behind the hacked 'Super Pichu' of Super Smash Bros. Melee was caught and banned
- How Melee's Biggest Cheater Was Caught - only in the chapters, "Pichugate 2016" is used in the description.
Pichugate is about as relevant as the Super Pichu name, being used in more YouTube videos at the very least, so you could argue either way on them.

- Modded Pichu cheating scandal or Super Pichu cheating scandal. I think "cheating" is important as a descriptor for newcomers to the subject. I don't think "Super Pichu" is particularly required as I don't think it's the name a majority of people would refer to it as, and I was one of the people who saw the scandal's discussion when it was new. In the original Reddit post "Super Pichu" was never used in the original post, and only once in a joking comment. Dan Salvato's video covering the scandal on the same day was titled Melee player caught cheating using game hacks! - My response. Upon Googling "cheating Pichu" in videos, several video titles refer to cheating, while Googling "Super Pichu" in videos does not show any video titles referring to it. Also, Googling "Pichugate" in quotations pulls up 10 results. --Meester Tweester (talk) 07:39, October 26, 2023 (EDT)
- Reiterating what I already said on discord since communicating with fellow editors can be difficult sometimes: 1) It does not matter whether one reddit post or video does not refer to it as "Super Pichu" if it is still a common name for it after the fact.
