Controversy[edit]
Following the second day of the tournament, head tournament organizer KirbyDad made a post on Twitter where he accused an anonymous top player for ghosting him after agreeing to attend the tournament and for not showing up even after he paid $600 for their room; within hours, many players deduced that the player was Scend, who had disqualified from the tournament.[1] On June 26th, Scend made a post where he stated how he tried his best to attend the tournament but was unable to due to rising plane ticket prices as well as him moving, leading to poor communication between him and KirbyDad.[2] KirbyDad accepted the apology and noted that Scend was working with him and other organizers to amend the situation.[3]
