Prince (プリンス) is a professional Super Smash Bros. 64 player from Japan and was once considered the best Yoshi player in the world for Smash 64 and is still considered a celebrity within the Japanese Smash 64 scene. He plays Fox as a secondary and also demonstrates a proficiency with the entire cast in his 12 character battles and his famous training mode Level combos video series. He is currently ranked 5th on the 2021-2022 Smash 64 Power Rankings. On July 19, 2019, Prince was signed by Panda.[1] He and Panda would part ways on July 16, 2021.[2]
Tournament history[edit]
Prince is one of the oldest active Smash players.[3] He previously mained Jigglypuff and competed in some of the earliest 64 tournaments, including Japan United Smash Festa Round-Robin 1, a round-robin tournament where he placed 8th out of 24 entrants.[4]
He along with Japanese players Wangera, bonobono, and Kurabba were funded to participate in Super Smash Con 2016's Smash 64 tournament. Prince also entered and won the event's "Combo Tournament", placing over top Smash 64 combo specialists such as Dext3r, Mariguas, tacos, and Alvin. He was personally listed by many Japanese players as someone they wanted to see once top player Fukurou could not attend, showing his continued status in the community.
He was able to place 9th at Super Smash Con, with victories over Clubbadubba, Zero and Alvin and losses in the Yoshi ditto against Wizzrobe and Mariguas. Prince won the Smash 64 combo contest a second year in a row at Super Smash Con 2017 and placed 9th again, winning his rematch with Mariguas, but losing to Fukurou and, like previous year, against Wizzrobe.
A year later he played his third Super Smash Con 2018 where he won the combo contest again and placed 9th again, losing to Zero and Dishier Wand in pools and sekirei and Isai after defeating Fireblaster and Robert.
