With the addition of Min Min, there is now a Chinese-speaking character in Smash. Many pages use [[Template:Ja]] at the top for writing Japanese and translations from it. Some Chinese quotes were added to [[List_of_Super_Smash_Bros._Ultimate_character_trailers#Min_Min]], and I noticed we don't have a template for Chinese yet. [[Template:Zh]] would be added, "zh" being the code for Chinese. This might be useful for Min Min's quotes, and could be used on her page when mentioning her voice lines once she releases. For example, using the quote on the trailer page, it would be <nowiki>({{zh|“我愛拉麺!”|Wǒ ài lāmiàn!}}, ''I love ramen!'')</nowiki> (provided my translation was accurate.) I think this would be a useful enough template. I'm not an expert in Chinese though, but would copying the information from Template:Ja be enough? --[[User:Meester Tweester|Meester Tweester]] ([[User talk:Meester Tweester|talk]]) 20:58, June 25, 2020 (EDT)

I was originally for support but right now I'm not sure if it is even needed. I checked out how Bulbapedia handles it for their langtables, and they use {{s|Bulbapedia|Template:Tt}} which is identical to our [[Template:Rollover]] without the explain class being optional. [[Template:Ja]] is just Template:Rollover with special font families and a lang attribute set to Japanese. With [[Forum:Langtable templates]] being approved I think something more general may be needed. I think we could just use Template:Rollover for everything (like Bulbapedia does with Template:Tt) or do something like Template:Ja but make the lang attribute a parameter (assuming the font families can stay the same for different languages). --[[User:CanvasK|CanvasK]] ([[User talk:CanvasK|talk]]) 21:57, June 25, 2020 (EDT)

With the addition of Min Min, there is now a Chinese-speaking character in Smash. Many pages use Template:Ja at the top for writing Japanese and translations from it. Some Chinese quotes were added to List_of_Super_Smash_Bros._Ultimate_character_trailers#Min_Min, and I noticed we don't have a template for Chinese yet. Template:Zh would be added, "zh" being the code for Chinese. This might be useful for Min Min's quotes, and could be used on her page when mentioning her voice lines once she releases. For example, using the quote on the trailer page, it would be ({{zh|“我愛拉麺!”|Wǒ ài lāmiàn!}}, ''I love ramen!'') (provided my translation was accurate.) I think this would be a useful enough template. I'm not an expert in Chinese though, but would copying the information from Template:Ja be enough? --Meester Tweester (talk) 20:58, June 25, 2020 (EDT)

Is this really necessary? This would be about the same as {{ja}}, would it not? Serpent SKSig.png King 14:49, August 13, 2020 (EDT)

Neutral[edit]

I would be more in support of making Template:Ja a general purpose CJK template, although the rollover template is a perfectly serviceable substitute for now. --Rdrfc (talk) 13:41, June 26, 2020 (EDT)

Comments[edit]

I was originally for support but right now I'm not sure if it is even needed. I checked out how Bulbapedia handles it for their langtables, and they use Template:Tt which is identical to our Template:Rollover without the explain class being optional. Template:Ja is just Template:Rollover with special font families and a lang attribute set to Japanese. With Forum:Langtable templates being approved I think something more general may be needed. I think we could just use Template:Rollover for everything (like Bulbapedia does with Template:Tt) or do something like Template:Ja but make the lang attribute a parameter (assuming the font families can stay the same for different languages). --CanvasK (talk) 21:57, June 25, 2020 (EDT)
