This article is about taunts in Super Smash Bros.. For general information, see Taunt.

The following is a list of all taunts in Super Smash Bros. In this game, only one taunt animation is included for each character. This means that characters can appear to face "the wrong way" relative to the camera depending on whether they initiate the taunt while looking left or right. Later games remedied this by having different animations for the same taunt so that characters will always face one direction with respect to the camera.

Captain Falcon[edit]

  • Turns ninety degrees to his right, extends his hand in a salute, and exclaims "Show me your moves!" Captain Falcon will face the camera if taunting to the right.

Donkey Kong[edit]

  • Turns and shrugs his shoulders, making a silly noise. Donkey Kong will turn to his right, meaning he will look towards the camera if the taunt is made facing right.

Fox[edit]

  • Crosses his arms and turns his head over his left shoulder while scoffing. Fox will face the camera if taunting to the left side.

Jigglypuff[edit]

  • Turns ninety degrees to the right, sits, and rocks back and forth, blinking and chanting "Jigglypuff!" (プリプリーン!). Jigglypuff will face the camera if taunting to the right. Interestingly in the Japanese version, the taunt has a slightly different animation, with Jigglypuff blinking at different times. The taunt also cannot be canceled as early in the Japanese version.

Kirby[edit]

  • Waves with both hands, stands taller, and says "Hi!". Kirby will turn to his right side, meaning he will face the camera if taunting while facing right. Usage of this taunt will get rid of whatever ability he has copied.

Link[edit]

  • Performs a pose in which he stands on his left leg and holds his sword in an attack position. Similar to the pose he performs after hitting an enemy with his sword in Zelda II: Adventure of Link, except with his right leg raised.

Luigi[edit]

  • Crosses his arms behind his back and performs a small, shy kick with his left foot. The kick can damage an opponent if it connects. However, its pitiful range and slow startup severely limits its effectiveness.

Mario[edit]

  • Grows to a super-size, as if taking a Super Mushroom power-up, before shrinking again. This also increases his hurtbox. During the taunt, Mario mimics the standing pose seen in the original Super Mario Bros. The taunt has interruptibility, with Mario able to interrupt the taunt by shielding. The front of Mario's body will face the camera if the taunt is initiated to the right side.

Ness[edit]

  • Turns ninety degrees to his right, nods, and says "OK!" Ness will face the camera if taunting to the right.

Pikachu[edit]

  • Turns ninety degrees to the left, yelling "Pika, Pika!" Pikachu waves with both arms at once while moving its head upwards and to both sides constantly. It will face the camera if taunting to the left.

Samus[edit]

  • Holds the arm cannon (on her right arm) upright and shakes it.

Yoshi[edit]

  • Spins and waves his arms up and down, saying "Yoshi!" as he does so. Yoshi will face the camera if the taunt is initiated with Yoshi facing to the left.

Metal Mario[edit]

  • The same as Mario's. Grows to a super-size, as if taking a Super Mushroom power-up, before shrinking again. This also increases his hurtbox. During the taunt, Mario mimics the standing pose seen in the original Super Mario Bros. The taunt has interruptibility, with Mario able to interrupt the taunt by shielding. The front of Metal Mario's body will face the camera if the taunt is initiated to the right side.

Giant Donkey Kong[edit]

  • The same as Donkey Kong's, looking to the screen, shrugging his shoulders, and making a grunting noise. If facing the right, he will face the screen when doing so.
