In all versions of Marth's games, Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem, the weapon is only ever referred to as Falchion in both languages. Actually the idea of Falchion needing to be powered up is something that isn't in Archanea at all. :It's a retcon, but it's still the simplest way to clarify the difference. Even if Marth's appearances are not canon to his story personally, SoV, Heroes, and Warriors are still official Fire Emblem games, so Exalted Falchion is a canon name. : The Warriors names Chrom's Falchion as simply the Falchion, no sealed mention and only one variant of Marth in Heroes using an Exalted Falchion, the others just use a weapon called Falchion. If its the name, Palutena's guidance uses fine, but it should be noted that Marth's weapon is only ever called the Exalted Falchion in spinoff. Unlike in Awakening, Falchion did not contain Naga's spiritual essence nor was it a blood locked weapon like the Naga tome was. :::"Exalted Falchion" is a translation of the Japanese term 神剣ファルシオン, which is used sparingly through the Archanea games and was translated in Shadow Dragons English script as "the divine blade Falchion". "Exalted" is the newer term and is used for Marth's Falchion in Shadows of Valentia as well as Heroes and Warriors, in addition to the Palutena's Guidance conversation. And Chrom's sword is named 封剣ファルシオン in Japanese across all appearances, which is generally translated as just "Falchion", but "Sealed Falchion" is used in Heroes. When the blade awakens its true power, it's renamed "Exalted Falchion" like Marth's blade to reflect that it's returned to its original power from the Archanea games. The main point is to clearly distinguish the three versions of the blade, so "Exalted Falchion" is used for Marth's to match Palutena's Guidance and "Sealed Falchion" is used for Chrom's to match Heroes. You can see more detail about it here. ~ <span style="color: #e68;">Serena Strawberry</span> (talk) 18:41, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
:::: Archanea's Falchion was not a Holy Blood weapon and the Binding Shield had been broken for years by the time Marth got it. Any lore about the Falchion needing the full binding Shield to be a full power or being blood locked only applies to Awakening. Read about it here fireemblemwiki and here, fireemblemwiki. In general, Awakening has a lot of things that aren't explained in relation to Archanea and many flat out errors within the script. In Archanea lore, Falchion was an incredibly strong sword but it wasn't locked to humans with dragon infused blood and Marth had none of it nor did Anri. The Fire Emblem was made for sealing dragons rather then awakening them or powering Falchion. Even within Awakening, itself, it is said the Falchion wasn't powered up by Naga and blood locked until 1000 years after the death of Marth in the days of the fireemblemwiki. ==Min Min's costumes 5-8==
I posted on the Alternate costume talk page, but nobody seems to respond there, so I'm asking you since you edit that page a lot. Would Min Min's costumes 5-8 be references to Spring Man, Mechanica, Ribbon Girl, and Max Brass respectively? They seem like similar colorations. == ARMS and masks. ==
Before this breaks out into an edit war I want to point you to these images from the in game gallery of ARMS . The text in the first lines up with what's a presented in the comic. There's an old Tweet from Nintendo from back before the game's release with the same image that states that ARMS return to "normal" without the mask, but I think the translation might have been inaccurate or unintentionally ambiguous. "Normal" in this case likely refers to the state of the ARMS being uncontrollable. The in game text stating that ARMS users lose control without their masks is likely more accurate and better matches what's consistently depicted in the game and comic. The latter images both have illustrations of people who visibly have the ARMS ability not wearing masks, showing that the traits are still active even without it. The second also further goes into the issue of trying to control ARMS without a mask and depicts a maskless ARMS user struggling to do so.
EDIT: Looks like the imgur link isn't working quite right. If you get a 404 error and there's a "%7C" at the end of URL then delete it and it should work I think.

:The main thing here is that, since Sakurai directly mentioned working with ARMS dev team, I doubt they'd go back on canon information. The literal translation of the info in the tweet is as such; マスクを外せば、普通の腕に戻れる優れもの。 "If you remove the mask, you can return to normal arms (futsū no ude)." There's not much ambiguity to that; it's "arms that are normal", not "the normal state of the arms". It's maybe not black-and-white; if you wanted to stretch you could say that both are canon, that the ARMS return to normal but have the risk of becoming uncoiled. I wouldn't mind readding the info about the ARMS becoming uncontrollable, but my main point is that there's evidence to back up the depiction in Min Min's trailer, and it doesn't totally diverge from canon. It's mainly a problem because it hasn't been depicted anywhere else. ~ <span style="color: #e68;">Serena Strawberry</span> (talk) 22:20, July 1, 2020 (EDT)

:::I went ahead and looked up the other Tweet in question, and here's what it says: "The 'Mask' solves the phenomenon where the arms switch states unwillingly. With this stability, outstretched arms can punch cleanly, so the motivation to compete rapidly increased." In other words, at least by the Japanese text, the mask actually controls the state of the arms (ude no jōtai), either regular human arms or coiled ARMS. Putting on the mask just causes them to be coiled all the time. The English text seems to have used a less literal translation, so I think that's likely the deciding factor here... ~ <span style="color: #e68;">Serena Strawberry</span> (talk) 22:40, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
:With all that in mind, I re-added the info you mentioned. It admittedly makes it a bit ramble-y, and could probably be cleaned up further, but the gist of it is that there is evidence that both supports and contradicts Min Min's human arms in the trailer. We probably won't know until we get something that goes into more depth about what happens when you remove the mask (a potential sequel?). == Bringing up an editing habit of yours ==
So I've noticed that throughout your time on SmashWiki, you've made several edits at a time rather than doing all of them in one go (a recent example being with your latest edits on the Ganondorf page).
Considering you've been editing for SmashWiki for a long time (even longer than I have been), I think you should be aware of this by now:
| |||
By using Show Preview, you're able to view and catch any mistakes you have made before saving your draft.
That being said, I've noticed one of your edit summaries on Ganondorf's page states "sorry i keep noticing little things", so maybe the issue is that some things keep coming to your mind immediately after you save your draft (in all honesty, this is a habit I do have from time to time). In that case, I think the best solution is to just keep rereading your draft several times until you get one that you're fully satisfied with. :Yep, I'm totally aware of the "show preview" button... I just completely forget it exists when I get into an editing frame of mind and constantly make little tweaks and additions. That's why I tend to apologize when I make a lot of edits, because I realize too late that I should've been using "show preview" rather than clogging up the recent changes. I'll definitely keep that last point in mind, since I haven't previously thought about doing that. Leaks[edit]
I noticed you keep undoing stuff involving Yoshi's Island in SSB4, you seem to have missed several hours of discussion on the subject, we agreed that everything shown in the videos would be listed in the mainspace and everything in the images would not be listed until we got definitive proof. So please stop removing information about it. Also, why are you only removing mentions of Yoshi's Island and not, say, Shulk or Bowser Jr.? It seems weird. Laikue (talk) 22:42, 26 August 2014 (EDT)
- Alright, I will stop since it keeps getting added back anyway. The reason I was only removing Yoshi's Island is because removing Shulk and Bowser Jr. and whatnot would require removing several pages, which would make me rather disputed in the community, I feel. I think it's odd that you're adding information from a video leak on what's supposed to be a professional and informative wiki, especially since so far there's been no substantial proof from Nintendo or Masahiro Sakurai. But whatever, I suppose that's the community's decision. DryKirby64 (talk) 08:31, 27 August 2014 (EDT)
Zelda's white alt[edit]
While I agree that it no longer resembles a wedding gown, I think the alt would more explicitly resemble her blue dress if that was the source of inspiration. The dress does not look cyan to me in the link you showed me. At most, there's a subtle blue-tint, but I think that's mostly from the lighting on Spirit Tracks. It's still a white gown with golden highlights, like in previous games. If anything, I think it looks more like the overworld sprite from A Link to the Past even more so than it did in previous games. Even the gems in her head wear are the same color as the sprite's.Nintendo101 (talk) 08:00, 19 June 2018 (EDT)
- I'm still fairly confident about the blue dress being the source of inspiration, but unless we get some sort of outside confirmation like the fake Bowser in SSB4, there's not much else going for it. I agree it bears a closer resemblance to her overworld sprite, so let's leave it at that. DryKirby64 (talk) 12:03, 19 June 2018 (EDT)
Models and textures appear "unchanged"[edit]
Hi, Serena. I've noticed that you have committed a lot of revisions to the aesthetic change sections of the Ultimate fighters. What is you basis for saying models and textures look "similar to past installments"? I personally feel this tone mischaracterized the models and textures by suggesting they were recreated from scratch. This is actually not the case for several reasons. Every Smash title begins development by porting data, engines and assets from the previous game. For example, when Kid Icarus: Uprising was in the final development stages, Brawl was ported to the Nintendo 3DS concurrently, and the amount of revisions were piled on from there. The amount of changes between fighters varies wildly. For example, Pikachu in SSB4 has a completely different model from Brawl based on the recent Pokemon games. Mario, by contrast, relies on the same model from Brawl, but with different color contrasts. This is evident if you compare the Brawl and Wii U models side-by-side in a 3D-model viewer. I would be surprised if Ultimate took a different development approach, especially considering Sakurai recently stated that Ultimate heavily relies on material from the previous entry (for Wii U) and that their would be a lot fewer playable characters. This tells me that at least some of the assets from SSB4 were retained, which is in line with previous titles. I would be very surprised if the model or textures of Villager in Ultimate were changed at all. It looks like the same character with altered animations and a textural overlay that makes his colors seem more subdued. That is not the equivalent of recreating him scratch. Nintendo101 (talk) 22:40, 25 June 2018 (EDT)
- I say "similar to the previous installment", as in, similar to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, rather than "unchanged". I didn't mean to imply that they're recreated from scratch, but "unchanged" implies that the models are completely the same as Wii U, which is obviously not true. Every character in Ultimate has been at least slightly touched up from Wii U, just like Wii U had touched-up models from Brawl. Going with the example of Villager, there are subtle textural differences from Wii U to Ultimate: his eyelids are darker than his skin rather than lighter, and his shoes have a different texture with visible highlights. Now that you mention it, though, I'm not really sure whether it's worth noting whether something is "unchanged" or "similar" to before... Do you think it might be better just to remove that turn of phrase and focus on the more visible differences? DryKirby64 (talk) 23:31, 25 June 2018 (EDT)
- You bring up good points, though I would argue that textual changes are not equivalent to model changes (with Villager's eyelids being a texture, not a an extension to his model). I agree that a fair common ground would be to just remove what remained the same (be it similar or unchanged) because you're right - what is left unchanged between game installments is not the point of those sections.Nintendo101 (talk) 11:50, 26 June 2018 (EDT)
External links vandalism[edit]
Can you not? We've been linking to wikia's for franchise's that dont have standard wiki's since before SSB4, going around and removing the external links on the castlevania character profiles can be considered a form of vandalism. I'm undoing this mess right now, and I advise that you don't do it again.
Ixbran (talk) 04:18, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- It's not really vandalism but yeah, the externals to castlevania wiki are fine. Serpent King 15:16, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- I should have explained before I went ahead and did that, so I apologize. From my understanding, Wikipedia is preferred over wikias, and there are Wikipedia links in use. I haven't seen any other page use a wikia citation other than these and some Mega Man and Monster Hunter pages, though. DryKirby64 (talk) 15:21, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
Discussion[edit]
I liked the old series symbols for pre-Brawl stages in this wiki better, despite those reappearing in post-Brawl games or not. Juju1995 (talk) 21:45, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- That's understandable. It makes sense to include the old symbols for stages that haven't come back yet, but with returning stages that use newer screenshots, I think the newer symbols make more sense for consistency. DryKirby64 (talk) 21:53, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- Well, before Ultimate, what about most of the returning 64 and Melee stages in SSB4? We didn't see their series symbols change in their stage infoboxes, despite getting new screenshots. (I'm not sure if that came out right) Juju1995 (talk) 22:08, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- You mean like the N64 stages, right? I have to admit I'm not sure why they weren't changed before Ultimate; I guess because they didn't get any graphical upgrades? But when Melee Kongo Jungle was changed to Kongo Falls, the symbol was changed too, so I suppose it must've been a matter of consistency... DryKirby64 (talk) 22:53, 13 August 2018 (EDT)
- Still, it would've been nice to see returning 64 and Melee stages retain their old symbols in the infoboxes (not counting Kirby, The Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, and Super Smash Bros., as they are only universes to retain their exact symbols since 1999) then, in my opinion, viewers would see which Smash game they first appeared in before Brawl. Keep in mind (for me that is)[edit]
If you ever wonder why I edit Classic Mode trivia more than any others, it's because I play that mode the most in the game; plus the fact that I've only played like two or three online matches in my entire life, so unless I'm playing with my own friends locally (much less online), I play that single player mode (that you can now obviously do co-op with for Ultimate) just for higher and higher scores for the characters themselves (some routes better than others). And one other note, I don't observe much else of the characters or other modes themselves despite having played all (or at least MOST OF) of them at least once. --NinTylo (talk) 23:07, July 28, 2019 (EDT)
Melee's continue screen[edit]
Throughout Melee's source code regarding the menu's actions, the 0's and 1's decide if the player can or cannot Continue and not the coins itself which 1 or other value ends the game immediately and 0 allows the player to Continue after coins were checked at it's initialization whereas the state successfully removes the "Continue" but the buttons didn't get affected if it's Game Over and ends the game after the trophy lands. Also, there was one action for the "Yes" button that got unused because the game ends if you don't have enough coins.--68.186.86.111 12:17, August 17, 2019 (EDT)

How could I write spirit inspirations better? I’m going for the simple ones like pac-man and Duck Hunt now. 174.55.24.64 16:14, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- Avoid stating the obvious, such as physical similarities between the characters and their puppet fighters. Focus on how the gameplay replicates how the characters appear in their original games, and do some research about them so it doesn't just come down to the bare basics. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 16:17, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- Why does it still say that Falco and Farfetch’d are both birds then? I researched Roger the Potted Ghost, Don Bongo, and the Yoshi Topsy Turvy characters on Mario Wiki though? I’m doing Pac-Man next. 174.55.24.64 16:24, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- It doesn't, at least not anymore. You have to make more concrete connections than simply, for example, "Robin and Hongo are both magic"; both the stage and Robin's tomes reference how Yoshi Topsy-Turvy takes place in a pop-up book. The references are usually something you wouldn't get at a cursory glance. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 16:33, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- What about personality though, can a puppet fighter be used to represent the personality between them and the spirit and not physical similarities? ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 (talk) is bad for me 22:22, November 11, 2019 (EST)
- I would say no, unless it relates to their abilities (for example, Ganondorf and M. Bison both being villains who use darkness). ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 23:15, November 11, 2019 (EST)

Marth's Falchion[edit]
In all versions of Marth's games, Shadow Dragon and Mystery of the Emblem, the weapon is only ever referred to as Falchion in both languages. Actually the idea of Falchion needing to be powered up is something that isn't in Archanea at all. Remember as well the Fire Emblem was broken apart for hundreds of years in Marth's times and unlike in Awakening, it wasn't a blood locked weapon. Delsait (talk) 17:26, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- It's a retcon, but it's still the simplest way to clarify the difference. Even if Marth's appearances are not canon to his story personally, SoV, Heroes, and Warriors are still official Fire Emblem games, so Exalted Falchion is a canon name. But most importantly, it's the name Smash Bros. uses, and that's what this wiki covers. TheNuttyOne 17:30, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- The Warriors names Chrom's Falchion as simply the Falchion, no sealed mention and only one variant of Marth in Heroes using an Exalted Falchion, the others just use a weapon called Falchion. If its the name, Palutena's guidance uses fine, but it should be noted that Marth's weapon is only ever called the Exalted Falchion in spinoff. Unlike in Awakening, Falchion did not contain Naga's spiritual essence nor was it a blood locked weapon like the Naga (tome) was. Delsait (talk) 17:37, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- "Exalted Falchion" is a translation of the Japanese term 神剣ファルシオン, which is used sparingly through the Archanea games and was translated in Shadow Dragon's English script as "the divine blade Falchion". ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 18:41, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
- Archanea's Falchion was not a Holy Blood weapon and the Binding Shield had been broken for years by the time Marth got it. Any lore about the Falchion needing the full binding Shield to be a full power or being blood locked only applies to Awakening. Read about it here Holy Blood and here, Fire_Emblem_(Archanean_item). Even within Awakening, itself, it is said the Falchion wasn't powered up by Naga and blood locked until 1000 years after the death of Marth in the days of the Founder of Ylisse. Delsait (talk) 21:43, May 27, 2020 (EDT)

- Here's the thing: We're a Smash Bros wiki, we do things the way they are in Smash Bros. If Smash uses "exalted" we use that, plus we use it to distinguish it between the three Falchions. Furthermore you violated SW:WAR so just leave things be for now. OmegαToαd64 • the Best Kαrter 22:09, May 27, 2020 (EDT)
Min Min's costumes 5-8[edit]
I posted on the Alternate costume talk page, but nobody seems to respond there, so I'm asking you since you edit that page a lot. Would Min Min's costumes 5-8 be references to Spring Man, Mechanica, Ribbon Girl, and Max Brass respectively? They seem like similar colorations. 72.219.72.215 23:04, June 22, 2020 (EDT)
ARMS and masks.[edit]
NuFace (talk) 22:07, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- The main thing here is that, since Sakurai directly mentioned working with ARMS dev team, I doubt they'd go back on canon information. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 22:20, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- (Also, I got the imgur link working fine, and I see what you mean about the in-game text, yeah.) ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 22:20, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- I went ahead and looked up the other Tweet in question, and here's what it says: 腕の状態が、意志に関係なく切り替わる現象が「マスク」により解決。伸びる腕で安定した殴り合いが実現したことで、競技化への気運が急速に高まることになる。 "The 'Mask' solves the phenomenon where the arms switch states unwillingly. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 22:40, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- (Also, I got the imgur link working fine, and I see what you mean about the in-game text, yeah.) ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 22:20, July 1, 2020 (EDT)
- With all that in mind, I re-added the info you mentioned. I'm more than willing to hear you out if you have any comments about this, and sorry for the flood of replies. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 23:17, July 1, 2020 (EDT)

Goldeen voice actor[edit]
Hey, I noticed that in 2019 you added that Goldeen was voiced by Veronica Taylor in Super Smash Bros. 64. Where does this information come from? I noticed it was missing from Bulbapedia, but wanted to make sure it was properly sourced. --SnorlaxMonster 09:03, August 18, 2020 (EDT)
- It was listed on the List of voice actors page. I'm not sure where that came from, so it might be worth looking at the in-game credits to double-check. ~ Serena Strawberry (talk) 15:13, August 18, 2020 (EDT)

Bringing up an editing habit of yours[edit]
So I've noticed that throughout your time on SmashWiki, you've made several edits at a time rather than doing all of them in one go (a recent example being with your latest edits on the Ganondorf page).
Considering you've been editing for SmashWiki for a long time (even longer than I have been), I think you should be aware of this by now:
By using Show Preview, you're able to view and catch any mistakes you have made before saving your draft.
That being said, I've noticed one of your edit summaries on Ganondorf's page states "sorry i keep noticing little things", so maybe the issue is that some things keep coming to your mind immediately after you save your draft (in all honesty, this is a habit I do have from time to time). In that case, I think the best solution is to just keep rereading your draft several times until you get one that you're fully satisfied with. SuperSmashTurtles of the Turtle Tribe 04:30, May 18, 2021 (EDT)
- Yep, I'm totally aware of the "show preview" button... Thanks for reaching out to me. ~ StrawberryChan (talk) 04:35, May 18, 2021 (EDT)
