Event Match 31: Mario Bros. Madness is one of thes 51 Event Matches from the Event Mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This event match is similar to the point-system in Versus Mode. The player has two minutes to try and win as much points as possible. Points are rewarded for knocking out Mario and Luigi. The player loses a point if they kill themself or Mario/Luigi kills them. If Mario or Luigi successfully knocks out the player's character, then they will recieve a point. The character with the most points at the end of two minutes wins the event match.

Trivia
Items and smash attacks are helpful for this event. Since this stage is covered with bricks, it will hard too make an upward kill. The side of the screen is wide open so using a throw, particularly DK's forward (the carry) or Pikachu's/Pichu's backwards throw is a good strategy.
*This is one of only four event matches in Melee where the player has infinite stocks, the others being Event 5: Spare Change, Event 13: Yoshi's Egg, and Event 32: Target Acquired.
*This is the first  event match in Melee that references an NES title, the second being Event 38: Super Mario Bros. 2, which is a reference to the titular game.

Mario Bros. Madness is the 31st of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win a 2 minute timed match against a CPU Mario and Luigi on the Mushroom Kingdom stage. The CPU Mario and Luigi's artificial intelligence is each set at Level 5.

Similar to the timed matches in Versus Mode, each player starts with infinite stocks and they each gain a point for every opponent they KO, and lose a point every time they are KO'd or they self-destruct. If the player has more points than Mario or Luigi, it will result in a victory.
