Melee and occurs when a character dies on his or her own without offensive interference by an opponent (interference by environment damage such as cars can still cause a self-destruct). Self-destructs subtract one point from time by default, but can be changed to zero, or minus two. Time battles subtract the set number for SD and 500 points for bonus remove one stock in stock battles, and halve coin amounts in coin battles. Killing a team mate also counts as a self-destruct.
