Momentum sliding is a technique in the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros., which can be activated via a glitch known as "turn sliding". It can be performed by Fox, Kirby, Yoshi, Jigglypuff, and Donkey Kong. It causes the player to slide back in the opposite direction he/she first dashed in, similar to a wavedash. This technique is similar to the Teleport in both games.
Execution
Using any of the listed fighters, the player must first input a dash, then dash pivot. During the skid, the control stick must be flicked back to neutral during certain frames of the animation (frames vary depending on character). The character will turn and slide the opposite direction.
Distances
- Donkey Kong has the furthest distance, traveling 3/4 the length of Dream Land.
- Jigglypuff is the easiest to do with the technique and travels 1/2 the length of Dream Land.
- Kirby and Fox each travel around 1/4 the length of Dream Land.
- Yoshi travels a bit less than Kirby and Fox.
