Pichu (ピチュー, Pichū) is a character from the Pokémon series, and is the younger (pre-evolved) form of main series mascot Pikachu.

Pichu is a small Electric-type Pokémon that appears as Pikachu's "clone" in Melee. Its moveset is virtually identical to Pikachu's, however, there are some subtle differences. For example, when Pichu's Skull Bash is completely charged, it will almost always send the opponent flying (It does take longer to charge than Pikachu's though). One drawback when playing as Pichu is the fact that it hurts itself with its most powerful moves, so most of the time you'll find yourself relying on items.
See Pichu (SSBM) for fighter info.

Creature description

Pichu is a tiny electric mouse and the pre-evolved younger form of Pikachu. It is inexperienced with its ability to handle electric attacks, so when it attacks with electricity it does damage to itself.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee

As a playable character

Main article: Pichu (SSBM)

Pichu makes a playable appearance in this game, albeit as the weakest character and an intentional "joke" fighter. Melee is notably the only game that is true to Pichu's Pokédex description of harming itself with it's own electrical energy, whenever Pichu performs an attack that involves electricity, he takes a few percentage of damage.

Trophies

Pichu has three collectable trophies, like the other 25 characters in Melee, its original trophy, the Smash Red trophy, and the Smash Blue trophy.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Pichu, along with Roy, Dr. Mario and Mewtwo, does not return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl perhaps due to low popularity, However, one of Pikachu's outfits feature blue goggles very similar to the ones Pichu wore in Melee. In a hacked version of the game, Pichu was the only one of the four removed characters that wasn't even considered or had any programming done.
