A natural combo is a move composed of multiple parts; pressing the relevant button at the correct time will launch the next segment of the move, while not pressing the button will end the sequence. They can be found in all four games. Natural combos are sometimes, but not necessarily, combos; the sequence of attacks is not guaranteed to hit the opponent if the first hit connects.

Sometimes used interchangeably with neutral attack, its most common type, most characters will perform multiple attacks (such as Mario's jab, cross, kick), and some characters will launch into a rapid attack.

Some characters, such as Link, Sheik, Snake, Captain Falcon, and Meta Knight, have natural combos using their tilts or smashes as well.

Marth, Roy, and Lucina's side special moves are also natural combos; after the first strike, players can press up special, neutral special, or down special for three more attacks, each time yielding a different attack.
