I would say fake, however the render is new, and there's a completely curve ball character listed that I actually think sounds totally like something Sakurai would do. On the list of rumors talk page, there seems to be more discussion on whether or not a rumor is legit than whether it deserves a section. Thus, I decided to make a forum thread for discussion.
Apparently, a video leaked showing Shovel Knight on a 3DS character select screen.
