PictoChat is a Super Smash Bros. Brawl stage based on the software for the Nintendo DS of the same name. In the beginning, the stage consists of a flat, blank stage. As the match continues, pictures are drawn in. Some have different effects, like a face that blows wind at the players, a roller coaster track with a moving car, a giant Piranha Plant and much more.

The only static platform is a "now entering" notification. Although the lower end of the main platform can sometimes be seen, it is impossible to go under and around it.

Oddly enough, for a stage that appears technical and futuristic, the crates and barrels appear in the present form instead of the stainless steel form, and although this takes place in a game system, the characters are still 3-D, unlike Flat Zone 2, where characters are 2-D.

The stage is also home to the Earthquake Glitch.

Origin

This stage is based off of the communication system that is built into the Nintendo DS (Pictochat). One can either type or draw a message to his/her friend. The stage itself is on top of a bar that is on the top screen (even though the one writing the message draws on the bottom screen) and tells whom ever is joining your chat room.

Drawings

  • Fire - Burns players when touched, two fires placed in the centre, 1% damage and mid-low knockback.
  • Missiles - Two from each side. Explode when touched
  • Minecart - Half-pipe like structure with a minecart. Car damages players if it hits on the side. People can ride on top, much like the Rolling Crate.
  • Spikes - Spikes appear that damage you if you touch them
  • Blocks - Blocks stacked upon one another. Cannot be passed through (but players may jump UP through them.)
  • Springs - Springs appear on the sides of the stage
  • Carnival ride - Ferris wheel
  • Pendulum - A pendulum with a platform.
  • Gusty Gus - Face appears and blows wind
  • Farm - A house and a cow. Grass on the side adds extra area to fight on.
  • Piranha Plant - A piranha plant sits in the middle of the stage. Its teeth cause damage.
  • Whale - Whale appears with water spout.
  • Clock - moving hands are platforms
  • Spears - Long, damaging spears appear that can't be passed through, but jumped over.
  • Other miscellaneous and non-impacting drawings.
