Autoreticle (オート照準, Auto Alignment) is Palutena's neutral special in SSB4.[1]
Overview
When this move is used, Palutena will lock on to a fighter in front of her (indicated by a green reticle), and then she will fire three light blasts at them from her staff. Each blast of light deals about 2.9%. The reticle will only lock on if the opponent is in the move's range. If the opponent moves, the reticle will not follow them. The reticle will not take aim if there is an obstacle in the way, such as a platform or an item.
Origin
Autoreticle, an enhancement-type power, is one of the many powers Palutena lends to Pit in Kid Icarus: Uprising. When Pit uses this power, he automatically targets enemies for a period of time while attacking. This would be shown by the power moving Pit's reticle over the enemy or enemies in front of him.
The reticle itself that appears resembles the one in Uprising. Its appearance changes depending on the situation and the target in that game; how close the target is will affect its size, availability of charge shots adds crosshairs to the reticle, fighting enemies changes the reticle red, holding a throwing item changes the reticle yellow, and the reticle changes to a cross shape when in melee range. The reticle that appears in the move, however, does not change.
