These stars also appear again in the remake ''Super Mario 64 DS'', ''Super Mario Galaxy'', and ''Super Mario Galaxy 2'' but the Power Stars were replace by Shine Sprites in ''Super Mario Sunshine''. The number of total stars that the player can collect in each of these four game varies; ''Super Mario 64'' has a total of 120 stars, its DS remake made a increase of 30 stars which brings the total to 150 stars, and both ''Super Mario Galaxy'' and ''Super Mario Galaxy 2'' each have a total of 242 stars (121 stars each for Mario and [[Luigi]] to collect).

Power Stars first appeared in Super Mario 64, that acts as collectibles Mario can get to progressively access more levels.
