Substitute is a move in the [[Pokémon (universe)|''Pokemon'' series]] since the first Generation. When used, the Pokémon loses 25% of its remaining HP, and leaves the screen, replaced by a doll; the substitute. The substitute shares the original Pokémon's stats and typing. When a substitute takes the amount of damage needed to defeat the original Pokémon, it fades away. It is considered a "Normal" type move and has 10 PP.

Substitute is a move used by Greninja in Super Smash Bros. 4. Upon use, Greninja fades away and a Substitute goes in its place. This move appears to be the functionally similar to Double Team as a counterattack, but actually teleports Greninja behind an opponent that attacks with a projectile.
