The Angel Ring (エンジェリング Enje Ringu) is Pit's side special move. He rapidly spins his bow in front of him and damages opponents while deflecting any incoming projectiles.

Overview

To keep the bow spinning, the player must press the special button repeatedly, like Sonic's Spin Charge. Pit cannot move after the initial movement forward, which can leave him vulnerable. Enemies can jump over Pit to attack from behind; additionally, Pit is vulnerable to any ranged grabs like Link's Clawshot while using the Angel Ring, especially from behind. It does 1% damage, and hits 8 times per second, easily racking up damage if the opponent does not SDI correctly.

When Angel Ring is used in mid-air, Pit initially moves forwards, but resumes falling straight down after a short amount of time.

There is a small push effect in front of Pit once the move is ended.

Controversy

This move has given Pit a bad name as an annoying spammer, and to some people, they think it should be banned. Not only can Pit defend from any physical approaches, but it reflects projectiles, preventing camping, which makes the foe have to use a long ranged physical move pr attack from behind.

Origin

Pit could not use any sort of move like this prior to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as his bow did not double as a pair of blades. This is the only one of Pit's Special Moves not based on one of the Three Sacred Treasures from Kid Icarus.

Description from the Instruction Booklet

Spin Palutena's Bow at blinding speed, scoring multiple hits on the enemy.
