The Nintendo DS (sometimes abbreviated NDS or DS) is a handheld game console developed and manufactured by Nintendo, which was released in November 2004. It is notable for having two screens, the bottom screen being a touch screen (for which a stylus is provided), which many games for the DS make use of. Since its release, the DS has been remade three times in the forms of the DS Lite, the DSi, and the DSi XL.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The Nintendo DS itself is represented in Super Smash Bros. Brawl through the PictoChat stage. PictoChat is a feature on the Nintendo DS in which players can communicate with each other by writing messages (or drawing doodles) on the touch screen.
Also, one of the backgrounds in the trophy hoard features a black Nintendo DS Lite, much like the player could see previous Nintendo consoles in its predecessor.
