Nolimar refers to a fighting style in which one plays as Olimar without using any Pikmin. Nolimar can also refer to the character himself, such as in the context "I was playing as Nolimar," meaning "I was playing as Olimar with no Pikmin."
Although undeniably a less effective strategy than playing with Pikmin, it is not completely ineffective. Without Pikmin, Olimar is limited to only eight moves: his neutral attack combo; his forward, down and up tilts; his neutral aerial; his dash attack; his down special; and his Final Smash. Even with only these eight moves, Olimar can still KO opponents; his forward and down tilts have enough knockback to kill opponents with moderately high damage. His down special move can give him launch resistance if used at the right time, helping him to survive longer. His Final Smash is still immensely powerful. He can still use his up special move, but it only gives him a tiny hop.
Other names for this gameplay style as "Solimar", a combination of "solo" and "Olimar".
