Approaching attacks are attacks that move the character a considerable distance while simultaneously having a damaging hitbox. Thus these attacks provide a safer approach than simply walking through offensive strategies. Also, most approach attacks are Special Moves, meaning they can be used for recovery.
List of Approach Attacks
- Jigglypuff's Rollout
- Yoshi's Egg Roll
- Fox, Falco, and Wolf's Side Special (Fox Illusion/Falco Phantasm/Wolf Flash)
- Captain Falcon and Ganondorf's Side Special (Raptor Boost/Gerudo Dragon/Flame Choke) and Down Special (Falcon Kick/Wizard's Foot)
- Sonic's Spin-Dash, Spin Charge, and Homing Attack
- Ice Climber's Squall Hammer when used sideways
- Luigi's Luigi Cyclone when used sideways and Green Missile
- Ike's Quick Draw
- Ness and Lucas's PK Thunder 2
- Meta Knight's Mach Tornado and Drill Rush
- Peach's Peach Bomber
- Pikachu and Pichu's Skull Bash
- Squirtle's Withdraw
- Wario's Wario Bike
- Zelda's Farore's Wind (SSBB only) (other teleportation moves are not included as they do not have a hitbox on re-entry, meaning it is not an offensive approach, and so not an Approach Attack).
