Trivia[edit]

  • Prior to the 1.1.0 update, the ordering of all Punch-Out!! spirits after Glass Joe was much different than in the final release, being based on the opponent order in Punch-Out!! for Wii: Von Kaiser, King Hippo, Piston Hondo, Bear Hugger, Great Tiger, Don Flamenco, Soda Popinski, Bald Bull, Super Macho Man and Mr. Sandman.
  • Despite first appearing in Super Punch-Out!! for the arcade, Soda Popinski is grouped with the boxers that debuted in the NES installment. This is likely because he was named "Vodka Drunkenski" in the arcade.
    • Likewise, Piston Hondo is placed after the boxers that debuted in the NES installment despite originally appearing as the third opponent in that game (otherwise he'd be placed between Von Kaiser and Don Flamenco). This is likely because he was named "Piston Honda" in the NES installment and it changed to "Hondo" for the Wii game.
  • Disco Kid and Aran Ryan are the only boxers from Punch-Out!! for Wii to not appear as a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
    • Likewise, Mike Tyson and Mr. Dream are the only boxers from the NES Punch-Out!! to not have a spirit in Ultimate, likely because they did not appear in the Wii Punch-Out!!, which is where the spirit artwork is taken from, in addition to Nintendo's license to use Mike Tyson's likeness having expired.
    • Furthermore, Bear Hugger is the only Punch-Out!! boxer to have a spirit and not be fought in the NES Punch-Out!!
  • All spirit battles against Punch-Out!! spirits are fought as Stamina Battles on Boxing Ring.
  • Don Flamenco's spirit battle is the only Punch-Out!! spirit battle not to play music from the Punch-Out!! universe.
  • Great Tiger's spirit battle is the only Punch-Out!! spirit battle to have more than one opponent.
  • In Adventure mode, all Punch-Out!! spirits that appear in spirit battles, as well as Little Mac himself, are controlled by light: they either appear in the World of Light or on Galeem's side in the Final Battle.
    • It shared a distinction with the Yoshi and Ice Climbers spirits, as well as Yoshi and Ice Climbers themselves in the World of Light.
